Whoa, that's ugly, 8 years roughly $20.5m against the cap

The Cam Neely trade will always be the worst Canucks trade, but this one is a very close 2nd

Not sure how bad he was last year but I wouldn't hate the flames giving him a cheap deal to shore up the top 6

I assume he will sign for the minimum in Boston where he also was willing to waive a few years ago. Apparently Garland could be had for free but teams want compensation to take that cap hit on. What an all time disastrous trade for the Canucks.

All-time terrible trade. Yotes got the Dylan Guenther pick AND a pick they flipped to Minnesota for Jack McBain, a pretty good young centre, in that deal.

What were the Canucks thinking. Just horrendous

If Flames trade some of their UFAs (Toffoli, Lindholm) I'd easily take Garland back for nothing.

It was a Jim Benning Special. Enough said.

Jesus I forgot that pick ended up being Guenther.
That's nightmarish.

How much will Ken Holland offer him to lure him to Edmonton, I wonder.

This is absolutely the stupidest thing they could do. Instead of having him on a 7.2 cap hit for 4 years, they get a cap savings next year, then 2.3M of dead cap the following year, then $4.7m for the next two years, followed by $2.1M of dead cap until 2031.

In other words, they get cap space next year, when they're going to suck anyway. They lose a whole bunch of cap space in 3-4 years, when Pettersson and Hughes would be in their prime, and then a still substantial chunk for the rest of the decade.

The Canucks are actually a worse run organization than the Oilers. They're a bigger joke than the Coyotes. They should be rioting over this, not a cup run. They should be burning the owner in effigy every day outside the arena. It's unbelievable what a bad move this is. It might actually be as bad as the trade itself.

Just read an article on TSN interviewing draft prospect Matthew Wood. In it he suggests he'd love to play for the Canucks and that they're a "great organization"

Immediately should go on a DND list.

The cap is going up so this won't seem so bad, that's what we keep saying right?
