Finished my last day at TELUS after 15 years. I can't begin to tell you the kind of organizational rot that has set in at that company. It's so ridiculous that I feel like if I described the everyday experience of employees there, people would think I'm exaggerating.
Onwards and upwards to bigger and better things.

My mother in law got a fantastic update about her cancer, it isn’t gone and she won’t ring the bell just yet, but a small tumor wasn’t noticeable and the large ones all shrunk. What a ####ing win

It's been a slice Calgary. Finally, on a plane to get back to my family in Cape Breton (with a weekend stop in Montreal/Ottawa to visit friends and see the Jets).
I've always lived in the prairies, I'll have to learn the local dialect out there. Long r's and such.

Was dreading going back to 5 days a week in the office, I dont live in the city so its a real hassle. Also, with our new CEO slashing and cutting the morale is also at an all time low. So started looking a month ago for something different.
But I'm super happy that I just landed a role outside of O&G, its 90% remote, and also includes a 15% pay bump. So so so so happy!

I really hate some of the old school stuff in the oilpatch.
My boss requires us to go to the field at least twice a week and 99% of the time it is merely to sit in a meeting room for a few hours. Its a 3 hour round trip and need to leave at 5am to be there at 7am. Absolutely completely unnecessary where we could have zoomed or whatever.
It totally screws up my sleep pattern because I never sleep the night before worrying I'm gonna sleep in. I am almost 100% certain he does this so he can a new truck paid for every couple years (since he said as much).
I don't get a new truck, have to sit shotgun for zero benefit. Already dreading it for this week.

ha! ha! the only hip songs i know are the ones that my two bands play (becuz i had to learn them - and i had never heard the songs before that)...
- new orleans is sinking
- wheat kings
- grace too
- blow at high dow
- three pistols
i grew up listening to hard rock & metal ... the hip are neither of those! it's probably sacrilegious to say, but i just don't get their appeal. oh well.

I read that too fast as you were peeing them away. Even with an oh yeah at the bottom like it was relieving.

I could put this here, or in the Gear grinders. Had an absolutely amazing weekend with one of my kids hockey team. I can’t believe that they have come this far this fast. But more importantly, they are really gelling as a team and we are seeing some really good young guys developing. Now, these are probably not going to be NHLers, but so awesome to see them starting reach their potential.
The other team… didn’t have a good weekend. Teams were not well matched, and that is not good for either team. But sometimes you are the windshield, and sometimes you are the bug. Take and learn what you can, and build character and learn from it. (GG part).

Seeing Jimmy Rankin Dec 2nd! If Gord was our nations finest musician and lyricist, surely Jimmy is the runner up. In my eyes anyway.

I'm at the mic mac mall in Dartmouth* and there's a food court here where they throw out your stuff for you and just drop off the tray. I don't know why but it made me think of the post made here a long time ago about a guy who said that he threw away his tray in the bin every time he went to a fast food restaurant. And if there was a sign that said please don't throw away the trays he would find a second one to throw into. Still cracks me up thinking about it.

It used to be Mic Mac Mall in Dartmouth.
Did they change the name?
IIRC they incorrectly named it after the local Tribe, there is a lake Mic Mac in Dartmouth as well, used to race canoes and kayaks on it.
