Quoted for awesome truthness.
We can love our d prospects, but don't chop down a guy who's done everything and more expected of him with poor comparisons due to a lack of exposure. That is very OILER.

I would trade Andersson, Kylington, Fox in a package for Chabot without a second thought.
Chabot has the upside to become a point per game dman in the NHL.
To say that we have 4 Chabots is downright ridiculous and uneducated.
At worst, Chabot is a #2D......at best, he's a perennial-Norris finalist.

All I can say is beware of the 20 year old junior playing his 4th year on a extremely good team. In his draft year Andersson was 41 points better than the next dman on the team, Chabot was 3 points higher on his team and second place was a 16 year old. One could argue all 3 you mentioned were as good in their draft year but Andersson dropped because of weight(18 percent body fat at combine), Kylington because of possible behavior problems(silly) and Fox because of size (5'10).
Personally in this new NHL I wouldn't trade Fox straight up for Chabot, what he did as an 18 year old in Harvard borders on ridiculous, any scout, coach or player will agree Fox is a very special player with an IQ and skill set that's off the charts, size will not matter with this kid

Thomas Chabot would instantly become the best prospect on the Flames, easily. He'd be one of the best prospects the Flames have ever had. Adam Fox isn't even remotely in his stratosphere.

One of the best prospects we ever had? Making that ridiculous statement hurts the argument you are trying to make.

Is that you Mike Millbury???? That might be the worst post I've ever seen, you wouldn't trade Fox straight up for Chabot.

Thomas Chabot is great, but I think Adam Fox will be a special player himself too. I think he's our best prospect

Yes he would. Chabot is by far better than any prospect the Flames currently have.

The problem is that while scouts, coaches, and players agree that Adam Fox is special, they would all trade him for Chabot in a heartbeat.
Chabot is consistently ranked in the top 2 for D prospects and around the top 5-10 for all prospects. Fox and Valimaki are our two highest ranked prospects, and neither crack the top 50 on anyone’s lists.

How many Blue Chip, can't miss prospects have the Flames ever had? 10-15?
I'd put Chabot in that category, so yeah it's close.

The hype machine for juniors is so backwards. Werenski, Hanafin made the NHL. Looked amazing as rookies. Thomas Chabot -> Spent 4 years in the Q. Put up over a PPG in final year. Spare me the bluechip, best prospect ever, Norris perennial candidate stuff. His own draft comparables are already contributing NHlers.

At this point. who cares? Prospects are just prospects. How many have looked amazing to only be fringe NHL players and how many have looked like they weren't worth a contract and then became solid NHL players?
Sakic is a bad GM. The guy hasn't made any real good trades for his team so far. I'm sure he's going to find a way to screw this up and it's not going to take a teams best prospect. If and when Duchene is traded, it'll be for pennies on the dollar.
