Got the Quik-E-Mart for Christmas. It's going to be a quick build, but something about those Simpson sets just gives me satisfaction...

Kinda torn on that, really. I'm not really into the "Building" sets they have, which is a shame, since I love sets with a lot of pcs, and they have the Taj Mahal and the Tower Bridge of London, which are huge sets Just...not my thing. =/

It's too bad the Maersk E-Line ship is not in production anymore. Was a decent price and looks pretty good, for your price point I would have recommended it.

Not sure if you are into the Lego Movie, but the Lego Store in Chinook had a huge boxing day sale on the Dropship, Emmitt's Constuctomech, Benny's Spaceship-Spaceship-Spaceship. I think each set was about 35% off regular prices.

My 6 year old nephew is a video game freak. Christmas morning the first thing he received was Angry Birds Epic, and it was literally difficult to get him to put that down long enough to open other presents.

Until he got to the lego. I bought him 2 boxes of the "regular" lego and he spent all afternoon putting it together into the shapes shown in the little booklet it came with.

I was pretty happy to see he took to it so well, especially after he appeared to be locked onto the iPad for the day.

This set was fun to build and has some cool moving parts. It is also amazing value for all the mini figs you get. Batman, Emmitt, and the Green Ninja in the same set, yes please take my money!

Extremely tempted to jump back into Lego for the first time in probably 20 years after seeing the Simpsons Kwik-E-Mart and Ghostbusters Firehouse. Do sets like these ever go on sale or is it pointless to expect sales on these?

Thanks

They don't go on sale. And once out of production, tend to up in value (unopened of course).

I need this for my wife. She is in love with VW vans, and wants one very badly. This seems like a good alternative.

What are the measurements? I'm wondering if it will fit on our mantle. Is the van more or less than 6 3/4" wide? I'd hope it's around 5-5 1/2".

We have one too. It's cool. I used to own a Westfalia so it was strictly nostalgia.

Opened items will still fetch retail price (average), as long as it is complete and have instructions.

Licensed and Limited Edition items tend to go for 2-3+ times unopened, or 1.5 -2+ times opened. Obviously, this all depends on item and how old/limited items is.

If you plan on getting big items (or spending $200+), it would be a good idea to join the LEGO Club and get your points to redeem.

Here's my small collection of Lord Business Lego (kids can't play with it). There's a Ghostbuster Ecto set still to be built.
