I think the league needs to go back to 1 vs 8 but in this case it wouldn't have mattered as it's just bad luck for the Stars that Vegas finished 8th.

I'd feel sorry for them if it was best of one, or perhaps best of three. If Dallas can't win four of seven they don't deserve to advance, simple as that.

That is a brutal matchup after winning the West though...makes the regular season almost meaningless
League needs to extend the salary cap into the playoffs somehow, its beyond ridiculous.
Side note, I always thought it would be cool if the top teams could pick their opponents, would add some major fuel to the fire

@Calgarygeo I'd say it's more Dallas (best road team in the league) playing desperately. Will be interesting to see of they can sustain it and if Vegas can respond.

I would love that, I think it would be fair and would add some much needed excitement to the match ups as well. Each division winner picks their opponent in order of division winner points.
The added fun would be the ridicule on division winners if they are upset in round one after choosing their team. It's an excellent idea.

to be fair Thompson has been unreal...friggin Vegas
Fleury, Lehner, Hill, Thompson...Christ sake. Flames have had one goalie have an awesome playoffs since 89
