Wii can't output anything in HD.

A few things would get me to sign up for Netflix Canada again after I cancelled:

1. Star Trek the Original Series & DS9
2. Seinfeld & other 80s/90s Sitcoms
3. Beverly Hills 90210 all episodes (right now many missing, some seasons are missing entirely)
4. Up to date seasons of Dexter

That may be. But the wii is only capable of 420p max. If you want
HD, you pretty much have to use anything but, a wii.

Of course. I am fairly sure that the HD Genre isn't even there for Wii, but it has been a while since I have used the Wii for Netflix.

Oh man I'm so choked. I was half-way through The Tudors and yesterday they yanked it off Netflix. Hopefully it comes back as that is an excellent series. 8/10 up to where I've seen.

To get my 16th Century England fix last night I watched Elizabeth. Great movie if you haven't seen it.

For those of you in Canada that have an American Netflix account set up, are you still paying with pre-paid Visa gift cards?

I set it up last week, and after initially being underwhelmed by the offerings, I've discovered the spectacular selection of television shows. I'm going to keep it for a while.

Instructions on www.unblock-us.com imply activating the gift card to a real US address. This seems like it is going to be a royal pain in the ass to keep having to do, especially if you don't know anyone in the US and are using a random address. Is it even legal to register a gift card to some random business' address using your name?

Anyone found another solution to pay?

I've been paying with Entropay. Basically it's a virtual credit card. They charge something like 5% when you load money onto it and then give you a number that you can use. http://support.unblock-us.com/custom...rticles/291574

It sounds like you might be able to sign up for Netflix with your Canadian card if you already have unblock-us.com set up: http://support.unblock-us.com/custom...rticles/291505

I don't know if this is covered in this thread, but what's the benefit of having a US Netflix account?

I ask beacause I happened to notice that the us proxy hotspot shield gave my Canadian Netflix account access to the US Netflix offerings. Just did a quick test today, and was able to watch the first few minutes of S1E1 of the new Battlestar Galactica (only the old series is available in Canada).

As well, Netflix popped up a little note saying that if I travel, I may notice their offerings may differ based on which country I'm in, so it's "by design" from their end. No need for a US Netflix account, just a US ip address, or am I missing something?

I think netflix has changed how they do traveling. For my US account I have I am only able to watch shows available in both canada and us. So I still don't have access to dexter which is on canada but was taken off of us. Some others have told me they just signed up with canadian credit card and us Unblock-us and it works now. If that is the case it makes it way easier as entropay can be a pain sometimes

If this is the way it is now that would be so much easier.

Anyone else confirm?

I only have a Canadian Netflix account and I was able to watch US only stuff through a proxy (TunnelBear).

Yeah I just tried it with the free Hotspot Shield and it kind of worked, though it gave playback errors every few minutes (probably just not fast enough with the free version).

I wonder if they'll keep an eye on this and do something with accounts that spend 90% of their time in the US.

I know it works the other way (US account watching Canadian videos) on my PC, Wii and iPhone. It doesn't work on my AppleTV.

Just logged on with my Canadian account with my US DNS-thingies and watched DS9.

Interesting...

What do you mean US DNS thingies, a US DNS provider?

That's happened to me before on Netflix in the middle of a series or there are new ones out that aren't on Netflix. I just go to Amazon Instant Video and watch. They have every single episode of everything. Sometimes they are 99 cents and sometimes they are free. I just looked up Tudors for you and if you have Amazon Prime, which is $79/year, all episodes are free and available in HD. Amazon Prime is actually better than Netflix, cheaper, and it also gives you a lot of different perks like free 2 days shipping (not sure if that applies in Canada).

Also- I was going to mention about Netflix- My mom lives in Canada but she signs on to my Netflix account all the time and watches everything available to me in the States, so if you guys don't get the same (not sure if you do) as the US, if you have a friend or relative in the States you can share the $7.99/month and log onto their account. We use the same Netflix account on several devices and never have a problem.
