So what incentive would you have to feed other players gym defenders candies? Seems like a waste for a potential gym slot opening for yourself

Ha. We are moving to Chicago area mid July, and so I decided to order tickets to Pokémon Go Fest July 22 in Chicago, just because. Apparently it sold out in 6 minutes. I think I may be persuaded to miss the event. Tickets (wrist bands) that were sold for $20 originally are currently going for up to $500 US each on eBay.

The gym near my work as empty this morning, which is weird because it is always a level 10 blue gym. So I head over and try to get in and got a message that "Gyms are under construction". Also the one that was in the park near my house seems to have disappeared yesterday.
Anyone else having weird things like this?

Yes, everyone is having this.

Gyms are being completely redone. Also some pokestops will now be gyms. Read more in the link a few posts up.

OK I didn't think that was coming so quick. Also usually these are just pushed out and boom done. First time I have seen them take things down.

Had a crazy last hour of the event. Caught a Snorlax and a Lapras back-to-back, then another Lapras with about 20 minutes to go. Nothing special IV or level-wise, but still neat. First wild Snorlax I've ever seen, and the only one I had was a level 8 hatch from last summer.

I snagged a 2100 snorlax at the zoo on fathers day. Turned the game on and it was literally sitting on top of me. I had to do a double check!

Gyms apparently award 1 pokecoin for every FULL hour that a pokemon is in a gym.

I just placed 2 pokemon into gyms, and neither of them stayed an hour.

I recieved ZERO coins - under the old rules, I would have had 20 coins. Something needs to be fixed there.

Feeding Berries to pokemon in your own teams gym can award you candy for that pokemon type - I wish I had known this before I went out.

Server problems and gyms are buggy as hell right now.

EDIT: So if you have someone on your team feeding candies while the other side is trying to take down your gym, you could stall their efforts until you run out of candies. Interesting change of gameplay. Are raids only level 30 and up?

Raids aren't active for anyone yet.

yeah they should award a coin for defeating a gym or something needs to be changed. its no fun wasting 30min to defeat a gym only to have it flipped 10min later for nothing.

What level are you? I think raids are only active for level 35+

Some guys on you tube were live streaming their raids earlier today. Don't remember their level.

I'm a lowly lvl 28 still... it'll be awhile before they get to me if it's levels based.

Also annoying - spending 15 minutes taking down a 3 Pokemon gym, only to have berries powering up the defenders during the last battle.

It used to be roughly the same effort to prestige vs attack. Now you can attack for a long time, just to have someone stop by for 30 seconds to undo everything you've done.

Yeah. I think the objective was to insure less coins were given out, and not much else.
Still buggy as hell though, so we will see what happens when/if they get it debugged

I had a Snorlax returned after 4 hours, didn't get any coins - fortunately, I reported it to Niatnic and got them quickly.

After some second thought, the difference might not be as great as first thought, because for Pokemon in gyms for longer than 10 hours, you get more than you would have otherwise. My Lapras has been in a gym for 14 hours now. Though, I still think the minimum recieved should be 1, and not 0.

I keep forgetting that I can now spin gyms. Being able to do that will help out a little bit with the constant problem of running short on balls.

It has already been changed this morning to level 31 and up. Now to see if they are coming to non-sponsored stops - currently there are none in Canada.
