Nope. We moved a bunch of his stuff out of his condo today (with my new truck - yeehaw) and we managed to convince his wife that we had another load to do still (so he's starting a character at my place)
Here is a video of a Hunter soloing Crota with no launchers used. I watched a different one, but the premise is the same... and we have no excuses anymore
The idea of a repetitive grind where the bosses are little more than bullet sponges is just not very appealing. Without any lore to help the immersion and any real reason to do that grind, I guess it isn't shocking that there's negativity floating around.

At work so I didn't watch the vid. Is it Crota HM? Because on NM there really is no need for a rocket launcher. The first few times we ever did Crota NM, we did it with mostly Ice Breakers and VoCs. Back in tha day when we used to call out Crota's shield in percentage for the swordbearer. With rockets, I'm pretty sure you only need 2 Hunger of crota shots and maybe some IB shots to knock him down actually.
Now Crota HM is generally a different story. Don't need Gjallarhorn/Hunger of Crota necessarily, but a tracking rocket is still the best option. If he solo'ed Crota without either on HM, that's pretty impressive.
Ugh.
First run through hm crota, and Xbox live is having issues, stopping us from actually finishing.

Xbox is killing me lately. Live crash last night, can't finish crota hm. Get dc'd on last sword today, so my team finishes, but I can't get back in fast enough

Woo hoo finished Crota HM last night with clan mates! After trying for a few weeks, it only took us two wipes last night before downing him. Got a Fang of Ir Yut out of the deal.
Edit: And by god! Xur is selling heavy synths! Buy them! Buy them all now!!!

Is Destiny fun if you don't have very many PSN friends and just join pickup groups? Are there even pickup groups? I had a physical copy of the game that I traded in and was going to pick up a digital copy. I think I played enough to make a level 5 character but I wasn't sure if it was worth playing because I normally play solo or just join random groups.

The game is alright when you're just starting. The shooting mechanics great, and are fun enough to carry you through for a while. Getting to lv 20 is fun because it's based purely on experience. After that, the grind from 20 to 26 is kinda blah. All that can be done solo. Once you hit 27 and can do raids though, that's where the fun truly starts.
I'm actually not really a FPS person in general. But whether I'm with friends or with PUG, I think the raids are the most fun I've ever had playing an FPS, nay, in video games in general I've had in recent memory.
