I've wanted to try Rocky's for some time now. Seems to be basic and done well, which is really all I want.

I came to Calgary this Saturday and stayed the night. I thought I would quickly stop by Petes Drive In or whatever it is called on the drive home on Sunday.

I have been there before, but that was 10 years ago. What is the big infactuation with this place? Shake was good and huge. The burger was pretty gross IMO. I liked the sauce, but the actual burger tasted like it was bought in the frozen section at Walmart. I couldn't finish it. Is it just the generous portions and decent prices?

"Classic video games are retro chique, so they have some. But, if you take a closer look at the games the high scores are zero, which means that either no one plays them or that they get unplugged every night. Whatever the case is, it is clear that the games are simply there to make the place look cool and are not heavily used"

This is one of the best burger places in town with great service! i hope that retro video game scores dont stop people from having a great burger
experience!! i would like to think low scores on a old pac man machine wouldnt interfere with my burger experience.. thats just me.

i will not follow this "quest" after this quote

I am a big fan of the Boog Mac, but one of my problems is that it isn't immediately obvious that if want to sit down to eat, that you have to get your order taken at the till. Kind of pissed me off the first time I went there.

I had a really good burger at the Libertine.

Damn Good Burger: Public house burger topped with jalapeno cream
cheese, fresh jalapenos, bacon, crispy onions
Might be worth a review if you're out and about downtown.

Boogies is good, and a short walk to my place but the burgers are messy. The Milkshakes are crazy crazy good though. Yam fries and accompanying dip are meh.

I'll warn you, my fellow questers really tore BI apart. I had them ranked quite a bit higher.
I've never been to the downtown location, but the one up by Westbrook Mall was a staple of my hungover Sundays. Wild boar burger + fries + banana shake = Win.

EDIT: Isn't there a Burger Inn on Macleod as well?

I just had the Public Burger there last night and I honestly thought it was terrible. The meat was so bland that it had no taste. I remember having a burger there a while ago and thought it was decent so I don't know what was up with the one I had yesterday. Murietta's has a pretty good burger.

Yeah that's the only other location now - the Bow Trail one is gone.

I seriously can't believe how much things change/grow in Calgary so quickly. You don't really notice it while you live there, but try moving away and everytime you come back it's different.

I went to Burger Inn for lunch today. Was very good, makes me miss the old Bow Trail location more.

It's a wonder Peters is successful as it has been given the poor quality of hamburgers they serve. IMO it's the Shakes that keep people coming back more than the burgers.

I had a good burger (Crab Cake) at the Bottle House in Kensington. I liked the toasted pretzel kaiser:

I'm going to invoke the little known "That's not a burger! That's a sandwich!" clause that was invented to protect the integrity of the institution of burger.

Excellent review for Peters.

Terrible food, but somehow I always end up taking the girlfriend there every once in a while.

Just something about that place that makes you want to go back, and it's definitely not the food.
