Battling is basically swipe and tap, nothing like the actual Pokemon games. Also you can't see other people on the map, but it's pretty easy to see who's playing Pokemon Go when they're just staring at their phone, walking without actually doing anything.

One of the Pokemon locations I was at was near a park, so after we caught it we just hung out at the park. Later I saw 2 people get out of there car both staring at phones, stopped fot a bit and drove away. My guess is they were hunting for Pokemon.

One thing you can put at Pokestops (minor landmarks ie libraries, sculpture/signs) is a Lure. It draws in Pokemon so that anybody can benefit from being in the area, getting a few items and having a bunch of Pokemon come by.
Was walking around the Coventry (Harvest?) Hills shopping area and saw that somebody put a lure by Vivo. Noticed at least 6 other people playing Pokemon Go. Can't imagine the kind of scene in other major cities at popular locations.

I mean, this is pretty clearly a Millennial thing, which is why a) it looks super great, and b) like a piece of satire.

I'm in downtown Calgary for work today, and there's pokestops on every corner. I have 2 right beside me so I'm racking items

I wish the eggs went off a step counter, because ill do 15000+ steps a day, but usually all in one small area. The gps isn't tracking how much I'm walking I don't think

I've heard if you bypass the thing to play in Canada before the Canadian release they will ban your phone from playing when it is actually released.

Any truth to that?

Does this affect your data usage at all ?

I have no interest but my son is eagerly awaiting to play.

I just don't want a massive data bill after he plays.

no there's surprisingly little data usage. I installed it today and went out for 45 minutes or so, and I've only used about 9 MB.

The downtown "core" of Trail has a few gyms and a bevy of Pokestops, but it seems like everywhere else is nothing. The town I live in now is maybe 10 minutes outside of Trail and I barely even find Pokemon there, never mind a Gym or a Pokestop.

Fun game though. I've conquered a few Gyms, and I've managed to hold one so far. I need more high CP Pokemon though, which are rare. Does the CP increase as you level? I'm level 7 and I seem to only find mid 100's or lower.

All I know is that we're going to be seeing a lot more of people walking into fountains, light posts, and traffic.

With that attitude, why do anything? We enjoy Pokemon. Why? Because we want to. Because we enjoy it. What is the point of cheering for a certain sports team? Why would you do this? Not everyone likes what you like, and you certainly don't like what others may like. Do you really need to question this? Or are you just so full of yourself that you think everyone should be exactly like you?

What is the point of coming into a thread you claim to know nothing about then proceed to judge those that do know something about it.

That was a productive lunch walk. Anyone watching me probably thought I was crazy when I found a clefable and it took me 5 minutes to catch him. Broke out of like 20 balls!

If anything, I think it's great that it'll get people out and walking around/being more active than they use to be. It might just be a small step, but a step in the right direction none the less. One of the guys at work said he might actually go for a bike ride on his days off just to see if he could find any pokemon.

What's the longevity of this? A month? Sounds fairly shallow as it is, but maybe they will expand on it.

If you signed up with your Google account, might want to revoke that access (though you'll lose your progress I'm sure). They have full access to your gmail account.

I'm also wondering.

From what I can see, you walk around with your phone on looking for, and picking up characters in various places. Then you can use them to fight other characters. And the app tracks how much you're walking in order to find them?
