That is the NY lifestyle. Your work is where you live and it's at the center of everything you do. It's not as bad as it sounds, and can actually be pretty fun, but after a while it takes it's toll. If you don't like it, you can gtfo as there are 20 younger and hungrier kids waiting to take your spot.

If you'll be there on a Wednesday night, I can't recommend Amateur Night at the Apollo enough

https://www.apollotheater.org/all/de...N%20Show%20Off

The talent level is generally very good, and the theatre itself is an icon of American music. I'd go back again everytime I'm in NY.

As for restaurants, there's only about 4,000 good ones. One of my favourites is the Gramercy Tavern. The bar side is no reservations, and is a great room with outstanding food.

Make sure to stand in the middle of the sidewalk, and slowly walk backwards as you are looking up. The locals love that.

With a super wide, that isn't needed.

Thanks for all of the great input everyone! I will definitely be taking it into consideration.

Any places to avoid? I know there are some interesting/sketchy areas

But as a result, he owns a super nice apartment right in Manhattan...that he pretty much spends no time in. Want to live in Manhattan? Then ya do that heh.
You could also do the Suits thing and go to Toronto instead of NYC (mostly filmed in Toronto) .

Stay in Manhattan and you'll be fine. You'd be mostly fine most other boroughs too, but leave that till next time.

There is something to be said about Manhattan. You basically cannot survive you have to thrive otherwise you are making room for someone else. It's the ultimate competition in North America.

So from a tourists point of view I will never forget being on Wall Street in or around lunch time and seeing all the traders and Hedge Fund managers emerge from their catacombs in their expensive designer suits, the way they carry themselves. It's just like Suits!

Either which way, the city is super enjoyable and hoping your experience is a great one.
