I think Lorne has some people/sketches/things he just likes, in spite of the rest of us.

ex: Gilly.

Yes, I get all that.

But even celebs should cheer pretty loudly for some of the people and sketches we saw. Not the end of the world, but I was pretty surprised at the lack of emotion when some of the cast members were announced. Thought they'd be going wild all night. Was pretty tame.

And holy moly I miss Chris Farley. Hartman too, but watching some of the old sketches reminded me how much I loved Farley. One of a kind.

The first 75 minutes or so we're exceptional but the show has really lost steam. I hope they can get things back on track for the final hour. I want to see some digital shorts. Those were some of my favorite features.

I really miss Celebrity Jeopardy. That was such a good bit.

Kanye and Miley. Yikes. Rather have more solid sketches than those two train wrecks.

Didn't see the entire thing, was Victoria Jackson there? How about Julia Sweeney? Really loved the 80's/90's SNL.

Do they archive episodes on the NBC website? I had to miss it tonight.

You can't normally watch NBC content in Canada. Try Global.

My favorite parts were Bill Murray singing the Jaws theme and the deceased case/crew member sequence when they showed Jon Lovitz at the end, and cut to him in the audience. For a second I thought he had died and I just forgot. His reaction was hilarious, even though I imagine he knew about it.

Other than that there was a lot of padding on the back and Lorne Michael praise. That's fine, but I would love to see Eddie Murphy and a couple others come back to perform actual roles, I don't think he really did anything comedic today which was disappointing.

They probably should have held it at Radio City Music Hall or somewhere like that so they could have had all the celebrities down front, and filled out the crowd with fans. That likely would have given them a more raucous response.

Either that, or do what the Golden Globes does and get everyone drunk as hell before the show.

Celebrity Jeopardy was great. Loved the question session with Seinfeld. The Californians was bad.

I didn't see Julia Louis-Dreyfus there either.

There weren't many cast members from the non-Lorne years. The only ones I remember seeing were Murphy, Piscopo, Crystal, and Short.

Victoria Jackson's absence didn't surprise me because she's kind of gone a little crazy in recent years. She's not quite Randy Quaid crazy, but she's close.

I don't recall seeing Chris Parnell, which is surprising. He was on the show for quite a while and has done other Lorne Michaels shows after leaving SNL (Dr Spaceman on 30 Rock). All I remember seeing from him was the couple of clips of Lazy Sunday.

Chris Parnell was in the audience, but he didn't perform or anything.

I loved Steve Martin and Martin Short. Celebrity Jeopardy was fantastic. The Californians was never funny. It was awkward. They even screwed up when they all look in the mirror at the end. And Taylor Swift, she was garbage. I am pretty sure the reason all the other cast members broke was because she was so wildly terrible. Even Cooper was terrible. Better White is awesome.

I liked the Adam Sandler/Andy Samberg collaboration. It could have been better, but I liked the dig at Horatio and Jimmy constantly breaking.

I didn't like the Jimmy/Justin song to start the show.

For all the hype of Eddie Murphy coming back, he didn't really do anything. I wish he could have done a sketch or something as well.

Was Jon Hamm there? Seems like this is something he should have been in.

I do agree though that the audience just wasn't behind it most of the night so a lot of good stuff fell flat. You'd think as former cast members, they would try and support the people on stage.

Could have also used less Miley and Kanye.

The audience was really flat and there were a lot of awkward moments in the show where it was almost like the show was too live and un-rehearsed.

There were some moments of raw brilliance, Steve Martin, Maya, Martin Short were brilliant in their bits. The weekend update was nice to see as well.

In terms of musical guests. I actually really liked what Miley did, her voice was made for that kind of song. Kanye West was garbage.

It just seems like the modern skits that they tried to slid in were awful, Le California was brutal, and Kristen Wig and whats his face in the audience was wildly terrible.

The Jeopardy skit was very good.

If there was one thing that this special showed is that this show probably shouldn't have made it 40 years.

Hopefully they can now give the show a dignified death at the end of the year.

is the Californians popular? I skip over it on the normal show but is it widely liked?

like most Jeopardy and the Seinfeld stuff were the highlights for me

the Samberg/Sandler video and waynes world were good, and a lot of the monologues were engaging, the Jon Lovitz stuff too

agreed on less Miley and Kanye, didn't really understand why either was there

Bill Simmons explaining why it was pretty much perfect in its imperfection - and why the show will be around for a long time.

I could go on about the flaws, but I can't remember the last time I laughed so hard for so long.

Favourite bit:
Seinfeld: "Hey Larry, will you be going to the after party?"
David: "No, of course not. Why would I go?"

Seinfled + David bits are the diamonds of the comedy world, you know there are vaults loaded with the stuff, but they only give out a little out every year.

Fun fact, Victoria Jackson will actually argue religion with you on her site. I was doing it about a month ago. Can't even remember how I ended up there.

What was Sarah Palin doing there? How much would Lorne give me to run in 2016? I wish Seinfeld would have came up with something better than, quit teasing us or whatever it was.
