Default 30 years ago, May 25, 1989..Yeah baby!

Had to be at least 10,000 people on Electric ave that night.

One of the best days in this citys history.

Quote:
The 1989 Flames, who defeated the Canadiens in six in the championship series, were the only visiting team to ever celebrate a Stanley Cup crown at the iconic Montreal Forum. “To win it there and be the only team ever … ” former Flames centre Joe Nieuwendyk recalled several years ago. “I can’t even tell you how many times people, still, to this day, say ‘You know, you guys were the only team to do it in that historic building.’ And that’s a great feeling.”

At the time, I worked a block over on 10th. A few phone booths and bus shelters may have been damaged, but that was remarkably a well-behaved crowd.

Still one of my greatest memories. Those final moments are burned in my brain.

Also: #### I'm old, but at least I'm not the only one around here.

Was living in Lethbridge at the time, and I drove up with my mom on the Saturday morning for the rally at Olympic Plaza. Got drenched by the rain, but dammit it was worth it!

...and on behalf of Flames fans everywhere, PLEASE don't make us wait another 30 years for another Cup!

A city bus was rocked, and I may have been part of burning a Habs jersey.

I messed up my ankle jumping off a wall into a back alley ... limped on a golf course the next day in a Flames jersey.

Also got in a tug of war with a cop, the rope between being a buddy that was being carted off. Finally gave up when I was asked "do you want to come too?"

My dad and some buddies owned the Classic Rock Cafe at the time, now it's that fish place on 10th and 4th. Great place to watch the game and spill out into the chaos.

Too young to go downtown (so my parents said) but managed to scramble out onto Crowchild Tr with a friend and "honk for the Flames" sign.
It was a pretty fun celebration.
Was also lucky enough to attend Game 5 of round 1 that year.

I was 8 at the time and my dad immediately drove us down to Electric Ave. I remember being amazed by the amount of people out and about. Closest feeling to '89 was after the first round win in '04 and I drove down with some buddies to the Red Mile after.

Hoping I get to see something like that soon.

Damn I'm old.

I’ve just watched the Sportsnet Special commemorating the win.

It gave me goosebumps.

I got booted out of a bar on Electric avenue because they caught me buying beers and handing them to people over the balcony after the Flames won.

That was a glorious night, and a massive hangover the next day.

My mom decided that was the night we were going to spring clean my room. So I didn't get to just sit and watch the game. I was very distracted in the late stages of the 3rd period though.

I wasn't quite old enough at the time to appreciate how much of an accomplishment it truly was. I so desperately want to enjoy one more.

Do the Flames win the cup if Edmonton doesn’t trade Gretzky?
