Took my niece for lunch here today and I had the steak, my niece had the chicken sandwich and the wife had the salmon sandwich. All were excellent, and would highly recommend. For desert, we had the chocolate mousse cake, the crème brûlée and the ice cream (white wine, apple caramel). The chef also gave us each a scoop of his new ice cream creation, so we could give him some feed back (Saskatoon berry and ginger). All exceptional.
As others have said, it’s fresh and it’s good… really good.

If you’re eating at Pepinos you gotta get the Joes Special or the Meatball!
And at Earl of Sandwich get the Holiday Thanksgiving Special.

I was down at the 130th Ave shopping area and thought about giving EoS a try, but after dealing with the strugglers getting into the parking lot by BMO I decided to just get the hell out of there as quickly as possible. Hopefully they open a location somewhere more civilized.

Had some Posto Pizza and the Carbonara; very very good. We had the pepperoni, mushroom and green pepper. So yum!

Not really a restaurant question but I don't think we have a general purpose food thread... Does anyone know where you can buy green peppercorns in town? I have a mixed blend that has some in it but I really want just green peppercorns to make a peppercorn gravy.

Believe it or not, I've seen them at BulkBarn.

Silk Road in inglewood. Their spice blends are really good as well.

Went to The Artist Lounge the other night. Really enjoyed it. It's a little restaurant in a little art gallery.
Menu is tapas. I ordered the "flight" of tapas, where they give you 5 to try. Really enjoyed it. My favourites were the Japanese cauliflower (which doesn't seem to be on the online menu), the chicken flautas, and the ribeye slider. Would really like to try the beets next time.
They also have some unique cocktails, although I ended up getting a glass of cava instead. My friend tried one of the cocktails and said it was good.
In the NW, a bit west 14 Street and 20 Ave. Only open Thursday-Sunday, or something like that.

One of our not-so-great but enjoyable locally owned spots, Aki Raman and Sushi is gone, it was right on 16th next to the newer Pablo Cheese Tart. Was turned around quickly into a Chinese place, they had a whole thing going on this afternoon.
Aki opened right before the pandemic then struggled, not surprisingly. Limited hours after reopening and never got back on their feet.

Well it's more central in the Belt line, but we really enjoyed Kama. The food was great and reasonably priced. We do like that kind of food to begin with, so that played a role in our thoughts!

I was just in there today, I really like that place. We actually got some pink peppercorns from the pepper table.

It’s the best. Even normal dried herbs like their rosemary or thyme is next level.

I'm looking for an unusual recommendation.
I've been informed that I'm being taken out and I have to pick the destination. If I have to leave the house it oughta be memorable, therefore I want to hear about Calgary and area's strangest dining - weird dishes, uncommon ethnic cuisine, odd decor...whatever you got as long as it's unusual. Price isn't an issue - I want to hear about the whole spectrum from high-end to greasy spoon.

Deerhead Cafe. Never set foot in it, but it always looks plenty seedy on the drive by. Good reviews though!
And the basement tables at Chicken on the Way probably goes without mentioning.

130th is easily the worst shopping centre design in Calgary. It makes Shawnessy look like the model of efficiency.

Had happy hour at Kama the other day. Great cocktails and Mezze.
If anyone enjoys vegan/vegetarian, check out fire and flora across the street from Native Tongues (same complex as Kama). Great vegetarian dishes and wood fired Neapolitan style pizzas on the menu. Really good
