For anyone looking for those fancy moccassins that cost over $100, the Petro Canada in aldersyde (right on the highway) sells them for half price. It's a weird place to find them but they're the same brand as the expensive ones and they're cheap

I would really like it if I got a new shop vac for Christmas. I would also like a wi-fi mesh, but it is not on my list.

Our family isn't doing a gift exchange this year, the young kids are old enough that they don't need gifts, and we as a family don't get along well enough to exchange gifts.

I'll probably buy my mom and dad a nice night out, but other then that nah.

Just for some help on a sectional for our new home. My wife and I won’t be doing gifts for each other as our birthdays are close to Christmas and will do that instead.

My girlfriend is visiting her family in Ukraine right now. We are meeting up next month to go on a trip to celebrate her graduation from University. All I'm praying and hoping for Christmas is that Russia doesn't invade and WW3 start with her in the middle.

Thankful for what we were able to get throughout the year so not asking for anything specific.
Will donate $50/person x 4=$200 to church to help those financially challenged during the holidays.
However, I am tempted to get new Flames license plate....not a necessity vs. a need so I will wait.

My wife has paid for me to go to Calgary in April with my son for my 50th birthday in January.

After that, I can’t ask nor do I want anything for Christmas other than quality time together.

Would that money go farther donating directly to a charity like the food bank? I'm not a church guy, so just curious, but my concern would be my money just going to heating and maintaining a building that sits idle 99% of the time versus maximizing how it could practically help people.

How about a charity like the human fund?

Generally birches have various funds that you can donate to:

Building maintenance, cemetary, ladies or mens club, and at Christmas time often a food, clothing or toy drive.

So long as you specify which fund it's good. Usually 100% of that money donated goes directly to the needy family(ies) as opposed to a portion going to (even reasonable) costs as there are other funds and budget lines for that.

That said, it could very well be different depending on the place of worship.

I have only one Christmas wish. To sell our house that we’ve had on the market for 3+ years. Before the economic downturn, we had 3 written offers on the place and they all fell apart because the prospective buyers couldn’t get their financing in order:-( We have dropped the price by about a third at this point and still nothing. It’s not our primary residence and we can survive without it selling, but barely.

It would be a most wonderful gift if we could get it sold sometime soon.

This. Our church has "Financial Assistance Fund during Christmas/holidays" fund so as long as I specify this on the offering envelop, it would be used solely for that purpose. Some charities I may donate to might not get 100% donation going to people as well as they have overhead, etc, to look after.

It's okay not to observe Christmas.

A lot of folks would rather do without the stress.

Not sure this is the correct place for this one, but here goes:

My daughter only has one thing on her Christmas list this year - a bell from Santa's sleigh. Has anyone seen a decent one around town? Thinking of brass or similar and not simply a cheap two dollar bell decoration for the tree.

Saw one on Amazon a few weeks back but could not guarantee arrival before Christmas. So I didn't pull the trigger thinking it wouldn't be too hard to find around town. But here I am!

Thanks in advance for any suggestions - much appreciated!

Got a bonus Christmas present this week. My brother and his rescue dog "Buddy" drove up from Minnesota to visit me and mother. Decided to take him out for dinner and to the Roughnecks game tonight for his early Christmas present.

My brother also told us he has decided to do the surgery to fix his spinal stenosis.
