Default The Athletic - Pondering what the Flames’ lineup will look like in 2022-23

https://theathletic.com/1083712/2019...ke-in-2022-23/

A really good read by Darren Haynes. I won't source the whole bit, but here's what he anticipates

Quote:
Forwards
Tkachuk (A) – Dube – Lindholm
Mangiapane – Monahan (A) – Bennett
Pelletier – Backlund – Gawdin
Pospisil – Pettersen – Phillips
Tuulola

Defence
Valimaki – Andersson
Hanifin – Hamonic
Giordano (C) – Yelesin
Lerby

Goaltender
Parsons
Rittich
The big one obviously with Johnny being traded to the Flyers for Bobby Brink and a collection of picks and prospects with 1 year left on his deal.

Kylington was taken by Seattle.

I'll be honest, I don't mind this lineup. It's hard to not get emotionally invested in players, but it's a business, and this absolutely keeps us as a contending team.

This also doesn't account for any major UFAs either.

All this Johnny trade talk and I’m sitting here hoping he signs for another 5-8 years. Here’s to hoping!

...This is ridiculous even for a summer article.

NHL turnover is quick and unpredictable. Might as well read be reading tea leaves.

Obviously it won't be close to the actual roster in 2022-23, Darren admits that, but I still find it interesting.

Theres a lot of unreality in that lineup, for one it is 100%homegrown, no ufa signings. Theres also no way all of those prospects become Nhl regulars

Yeah, I mean, why should people try to have fun every now and then? He should decline the fun articles from now on! What a jerk of a boss he has for asking him to write something that doesn't solve the world's problems of this summer!

Played all four years of College than signed with the Flyers. Those crafty buggers!

Well at least Brad smartened up in 2022 and literally signed no free agents

I guess I can use this meme again.

The Seattle expansion draft thread is very premature considering all the possible permutations that could happen between now and then.

This article: hold my beer.

God forbid there be some entertainment over the summer. Sure is a lot better than watching baseball or CFL.

Fun article and take. Nothing too serious. Wouldn't be surprised, though, to see Giordano chugging along still at the age of 39.

Gio said he wants to be the all-time games played leader for the Flames which would by 4.7 seasons worth if he played all 82 games over the next 5 years (maybe during the new arena season!) I think we see Gio sign sweetheart deals after his contract is up in 3 years and we see him surpass the 1219 mark Iggy set.
