It is said that Montreal is high on Slafkovsky but doesn't want to pass up on Wright. It was even suggested they'd like to get both picks but don't know how to make it happen.

Let's pretend your proposed Tkachuk to NJ for #2 is something both teams go for... what if Treliving flips #2 to Montreal? Is Caufield or Suzuki even in consideration? Most likely not, but what could the Flames add to get one of them? Is there anyone else the Flames could get out of Montreal that makes it worth while swapping that pick?

Dream world and not likely to happen but it made me start to wonder what could be done.
Even if Montreal is interested would Tkachuk be interested in signing there long term? He still holds the cards in regards to his long term future and that's going to ultimately limit the amount of suitors for a trade.

I guess not a no-show but not what's expected or needed from two 100 point players. If they don't score we don't win.
Any support from the middle six would have easily swung the pendulum last game or even game #2 back in Calgary. The lack of any depth support outside of Backlund is unacceptable considering the season some of these players had and the credentials guys like Toffoli and Coleman have.

Couldn't agree more. I'd also include Dube and Mangiapane. I wouldn't be backing up the brinks truck for Mangi based on his latter part of the regular season or these playoffs.

Dube: 1 point in 11 games
Coleman: 3 points in 11 games
Jarnkrok: 3 points in 11 games
Lucic: 1 point in 11 games

This is where the missing offense is. These 4 guys contributing nothing on the score sheet through the middle six through 11 games is brutal. Lucic and dube especially as they bring nothing on the d side.

In addition to hanifin's poor defensive play, tanevs injury making kylington less effective, and markstrom's horrendous series, we have 6-7 key players who aren't contributing. Hard to overcome that.

I give Coleman a pass because he's an engine.

Whatever line he's on has a expected split of 60%. When he was with Jarnkrok they were the best line, moved him to Backlund's wing ... best line.

That line is doing what they need to do to win a series.

Sure a goal or two would be helpful but they're doing a lot of heavy lifting.

Jarnkrok has been fine too, Jarnkrok has just been unlucky IMO.

If you look at his playoffs as a whole he's been pretty good, outside of the puck going in with him on the ice.

Corsi For: 59.5%
xGF: 58.6%
Shooting Percentage: 5.6%
Save Percentge: .875
PDO: .931

Driving play but no puck luck. He's actually done a decent job against McDavid too, but also no puck luck there.

TOI: 11:34
xGF: 65.6%
GF: 1
GA: 4

A .333(!!!) save percentage when he's been on the ice vs McDavid. 4 goals against on 6 shots against. 4 Goals Against on xGA of 0.48 in his head to head time vs 97.

It comes down to the players brought in to bolster the forward throughout the year - A spot both team historically have had depth problems in

Oilers added Hyman (FA) and Kane

Kane: 12 G 3 A
Hyman: 7G 2 A

We added Coleman (FA), Toffoli and Jankroc

Coleman 2G 1 A
Toffoli 2G 3A (and -7)
Jarnkroc 0G 3 A

There's the difference right there. The guys brought in on forward to make a difference - One teams are producing and ones aren't (It's even worst if I just do their series stats)

Their advanced stats don't matter if they can't score. This team is having a scoring problem (And well a stopping goals problem this series but I don't actually blame Coleman or Jarnkrok for that)

And all it costs us was a 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th (Carpenter....), 5th, 7th and Heinemen vs Oilers acquisition cost of nothing

I liked that we took our shot. However it is looking like that shot missed, and missed badly

But for Covid and Kane lying about his vax status he wouldn't be an Oiler.

So yeah they got a disgusting pathetic guy for nothing. Well done.
