A super serious sandal discussion
My current flip flops are almost three years old now and will likely fail on me this summer or fall. I can no longer readily purchase these locally and have to search the depths of the internet to be able to get a pair of them.
I was thinking about this and it turns out I’ve been wearing the same summer foot attire for 22 years and there is no way I could see myself switching away from these. IMO there is no other option available that will rival these let alone be more comfortable.
My choice and only option is the reef smoothy.
If you need a superior choice for your feet this summer - find a pair of these.

I cannot agree with this. I looked and they are all preformed rubber style. No thanks.
I’ll admit I did try out a pair of rainbow leather flip flops one year and they were just ok.

Birkenstock are still the best. I fought it forever, swearing flip flops were good enough, but no, Birks are best.

Merrells are generally comfortable for me.

As long as you wear socks with them, any will do.

I know they're not popular, but Crocs for life over here. Comfortable. Ankle strap for when you mean business. Don't have to look at man toes. Wear with socks or without. Everything else is inferior and it's not even close.

In all seriousness Sliver is on the money here. Crocs, native, and even vans do a shoe/slip on/sandal hybrid kind of thing that keep your foot cool and supported. Lots of ventilation, can go in the soak no problem, feel good in bare feet and don’t stink.
If you go sandals, just go for birks, tevas, or chacos.
Flip flops/thong sandals are always the wrong choice, but yours to make if you hate yourself that much.

The skin in between my toes rips off from flip flops, to the point I get massive open wounds. Is this something that eventually goes away?

PM me your size and I can check with Reef directly to see what I can grab for you. They’ve been very bad since the buyout but stock is slowly arriving for the 2022 season (normally all comes in March)

Flat ones like reef tend to make my feet hurt. Olukai actually have an arch in them that I appreciate. Great wet or dry and last forever. Reef aren’t bad they’re just not for me.

See, I have a pair of Crocs and I don't find them very comfortable at all in bare feet. I basically keep them in my home gym so I can easily put them on and bike or row, but they certainly wouldn't be anywhere near a choice for me to walk around in.

I can never get them to stay on straight. They pivot around the toe hook and I end up with my heels half off the sides.
I have a pair of Birks and a pair of Crocs and my journey to find the perfect sandal type shoes is over.

Thats the real beauty of the smoothy. They come flat and the foam molds around your foot leading to a perfect fit. They have a double fabric that is nice and soft for in between your toes. They don’t run the skin at all.

Smoothy looks/sounds just like the Nike Ultra Celso thongs. I've worn them religiously for the better part of 10 years indoors & outdoors (go through about two or three pairs a year). They axed them 2 years ago and replaced with Nike Kepa Kai. A softer, more rubber like base.
Only gripe is theyre a lot more narrow than the Celso, so I get slight rubbing on the outside edge of the fabric.
I'd be open to trying some alternatives

Fine I ordered a pair. If they’re not great I’ll be starting a petition to have your name changed from surfurguy to liarguy.
