No supplemental discipline for Lucic
The NHL fined Brandon Hagel but left Lucic's name out their mouths this morning.
To be honest, the five-minute major and game misconduct was overkill for a collision created by Mike Smith's choices in playing the puck as he did.

The supplementary discipline should go to Smith for being an embarrassment to the sport.

I'm at work right now and can't look it up but what is the rule on goalie contact?
Isn't Smith protected by the rules in his crease?
Does that all go out the window when he's behind the net/outside his crease?

Pretty easy to call when you actually review it… which the refs did. Which is what the DOPS did… they did the exact same thing and came to different conclusions. They didn’t call 5 live.

No. Never has, never will. You cannot initiate contact with a goalie deliberately.
You’ll see “no goal” calls due to goalie interference that do not result in a penalty. That means the goalies ability was hindered but the play wasn’t deliberate enough to be a penalty.

If smith never flopped around like a fish outta water after getting touched. His helmet would of stayed on and he would of been able to stay in the game. He should feel shame for his embellishment.

Even Homer Simpson eventually relented that Lucic slowed up. And he certainly could've thrown his shoulder into him.
Mission accomplished in altering things...Smith was a) bothered he had to leave the net to go into protocol b) the Oilers basically killed the 5 minute powerplay (not sure they had more then a shot or two) and c) when McDavid was given a token hook call, and 4 on 4, they were literally sitting in their own zone killing the clock...to get Smith back in net? D) And took a time out to further delay that time.
Truly bizarre that the Oilers cared that much to waste time to have him come back in net.
And, what happens, first shot on him? It goes in and he looks like he forgot in that 15 minute protocol, how tall a net is, as his head was in the net on that goal.
The whole sequence of events definitely threw him off and hopefully it bugs him just enough in these future 3 or 4 games to throw him off again...it doesn't take much.

If the Flames is winning the series and leads by like 3 goals with a minute left, I hope Sutter will call a time out just to troll the Oilers

I mean you could use the same analogy for half the oilers roster:
Is there any faker tough guy than Kassian
Is there any bigger flopper/stick holder than McDavid
Is there any player with more of a punchable face than Kane
Is there any player more whiney than Crysaidle
The list goes on, the franchise is such a joke they had to put in a draft lottery protection rule specifically to address how bad they were/are.
It’s literally heartbreaking watching this ####.
Flames better turn it around and stop embarrassing themselves and us fans.

Of course not. That was a 2 minute Goalie Interference penalty and nothing more. The fact they called it a 5 minute major, reviewed it, and doubled down on that call speaks volumes.
Don’t kid yourself. The NHL wants McDavid vs MacKinnon playing for the Western Finals.

It was probably just a preventative call to avoid further shenanigans, but they didn't consider the fact that no Oiler wants any part of Looch.
