Puck management was less than great

Defensemen backing off in the neutral zone was giving the grease way too much space to break out all night. Stopping rushes against is best done at the opposing blueline.

Oilers actually somehow look like they know how to play defense

Still have game 4 to take one

Don’t get too high. Don’t get too low.

Now we need answers for Kane and Hyman.

Pretty sure Smith will not be an issue.

Did I say I’m hating life right now?

Can, can we make me 21 again? Our playoff performance when I was 21 was unreal

Typical Flames hockey….disappointing performance when it matters. McNugget plus evander King have the Flames’ number. Hope we can win the next one in OT…

Finally got Markstrom out of there. I love the guy, but he struggles so hard against Canadian teams. No idea what it is. And in two seasons here that problem hasn't gone away. Wasn't working, so you have to switch it up.

I hope Sutter starts Darth next game. You have to get your feet under you. Flames didn't play with confidence in front of Markstrom and bobbled the puck, hence the leap in turnovers. Crisper passing in the third led to less of those.

Carry it over and kick their asses.

Markstrom shows you why he is not deserving of the Vezina. Cuz, time and time again, if the team in front of him sucks, he’s a sieve!

Oh, the Flames sucked for this last game and a half with hardly any checking, especially the D where, they’re just letting the Oilers running around at will in their own zone while they’re looking for the magical McJesus! Gotta love the soft armchecks from Gubransson, Hanifin, Andersson, and Kylington!

Doesn’t matter… changes things up… plus look at Markstroms Numbers against the Oilers… I’d be putting in Vladar next game, but I know it won’t happen.

Negative notes:

This might be the first NHL playoff hockey game that looked like a no contact, 2 hand touch. When there finally was a hit which wasn't even motioned as a hit was when Lucic forechecked after the puck was dumped in.

Mike Smith embellished it completely and I don't understand how the referees watched the tape and decided to penalize Lucic for charging.

If that was charging, I deserve the electric chair. Actually, I would want the electric chair.

Positive/optimistic notes:

I'm just imaging Sutter going into the locker room and quietly telling the boys, "Well done, we got them right where we want them. Drinks are on me."

Like there is a game plan that we are not aware of.

Maybe this is just what this team needs. They are much better than what they've shown. Prove it next game.

People are talking about effort, I don't think it has anything to do with effort. I think the D is a bit in disarray after Tanev's departure and I think Marky is shaky and so the team in front knows it and isn't playing their game because of that. Leading to mistakes and breakdowns.

Despite the results they haven’t been playing consistently good hockey for a while now. It’s catching up to them.

True but then the game ended in the second. A Vezina finalist needs to come up with a better performance. The team in front of him played like they were sleep walking but he still needs to pull out a few more saves to keep it a game. I don’t remember when Markstrom actually was a reason Calgary beat Edmonton. Maybe the 3-1 game in the regular season? Every other game he has looked shaky and not himself.

Correct me if I’m wrong but I swear Markstrom has always had issues with Edmonton and Winnipeg.

That Woodcroft grin should be all the fuel the Flames need to jump on Game 4.

What a mess.

Flames had lots of looks in the first period to take the lead. I had to leave the house for the start of the second. I knew that kill at the start was going to be big....Looks like the oilers scored directly after it. Judging by the highlights of the goals we are seeing poor checking by the flames tonight. Their strength all season long. Hopefully they can be ready for the biggest game of the season coming up on tuesday.

I thought the Flames looked gassed in the first but still played okay, I also thought they did a good job clearing the front of the net. Those quick goals really did them in though.

Need more consistent secondary scoring especially from guys like Mangiapane.

Overall I think it was maybe the best game of the series so far.
