Tbh a lot of people were clamouring for both players at the time, especially Stankoven — who seemed like an obvious diamond in the rough pick who would get overlooked due to size.

As you’ll see his muffin shot was not voted on as being strong by the coaches.

A muffin shot is probably the easiest thing for a pro hockey player to correct, TJ Brodie’s career notwithstanding.

I really like how he's best as faceoffs. It's an underrated skill IMO.

Yup, they have been. Couple that with winning more trades than he's lost (a regrettable one for Hamonic), and it blows my mind that some people feel he should be fired when his whole body of work is considered.

The Hamonic one was also one where that was a bidding war and he went all in. Probably a big reason reason why he gets a little gun shy closing deals.

Agreed. This is actually the thing that gets me most excited. Lots of good skills and votes of confidence in important areas by the coaches IMO. I think much of his scoring is because he's smart, which leads to being opportunistic. The fact that he's good on faceoffs and a well regarded playmaker is a great thing, because those are skills lacking in the system. He's a really interesting player with some excellent skills. Next season in the AHL will be a great test and let us know what we have.

The Soo take Game #1 of their first-round series against Guelph, 3-0. Kerins had 1a,+2.

Especially for a young player, not that I have the facts to back it up but it seems to me like a lot of younger players get forced to the wings as they aren't up to par in faceoffs yet.

Just watching game 4 of the soo playoff series, Kerins only has 1 assist in the game but wow this kid is good. He does it all and looks amazing doing it. Really exciting prospect.

All I can get

Kerins is centering the Heat's top line..

That's quite the testament to the youngster's ability, as the Heat are already a top AHL team..

Play better.
I like Zary, but that’s what he needs to think.

It was likely just to minimize messing with the chemistry too much.
Gawdin was a late scratch in game one because of a family emergency (and missed game two as well). Kerins took his spot on the top line.
