Good fun game. The crowd was right into it. Lots of fun!

What a great evening, only thing that would've made it better was a win. No shame in losing on Pens.

They played hard, everyone was committed to their role. Bevan with the goal of the year, couple phenomenal saves from Marco, and Yao is a frickin rock at the back

Really need to fix set piece defending, bit of a worrisome trend early in the year especially for a fairly tall team

The boys Southwest United Team in the front of 108 was hilarious. They were right into it!

What a night! Weeknight games can be tough atmosphere wise but Spruce Meadows was rockin last night. Also there were a dozen or so kids in the front rows of 109 who were screaming all game long and I loved it! Managed to find the sweet spot of where to park and get out quickly too. Half the crowd seemed to leave between full time and penalties though.

Tough result in the end, but I thought Cavalry played Whitecaps well. Some massive saves from Carducci and the backline played tremendous as well. Definitely a far better showing than Forge who got stomped by Montreal earlier in the night. Nothing to be ashamed of there.

Bevan's goal was an absolute beauty live and even better on the broadcast. What a strike. Happy to say I am showing to be completely wrong about him. He's been a great add to the club. I hope someone managed to capture the absolute chaos in the supporters end when that went in.

Really great game, just a disappointing result - thought we really had this one in the bag through the 80th minute... left Spruce Meadows pretty down

That said, the crowd was great, Cavs really matched up completely evenly with the Whitecaps which was awesome, Cavallini saw me give him the middle finger, and the Bevan strike was an absolute thing of beauty - what an addition he's been.

Those kids in 108 are hardcore. One of the Whitecaps players was trying to give them some love afterwards. Respectful clap, hand on heart, etc. and those kids were having none of it. Kept booing him.

Not the right result, but a good game and crowd on a nice spring weeknight. I felt that the Cavs played fairly well and could've hung on. And as much as I hate penalties to decide a game, it was different and entertaining. Not to mention a first for Cavalry and Spruce Meadows.

I brought my wife and my niece, and it was the first time for both. They enjoyed it and will definitely be back. My wife kept commenting on how it was so strange to have soccer at Spruce Meadows, but how well it worked. She's not wrong, of course, but I think it is easy to get used to it and forget how unique and quaint it is until a fresh set of eyes reminds you.

On the plus side, I am really impressed with Bevan. I thought he was going to be a half-ass addition as a striker, boy was I wrong. Dude is fitting like a glove in our attack.

Glad to see Pepple get one, he was very dangerous from the minute he came on. Kind of a dull defensive game which he helped to break open. Jean Aniel Assi was looking good with his speed on the right but lacked that final ball.

Happy to point out Cavalry are undefeated since this take, with the exception of the loss on penalties to Whitecaps last week.

Nothing wrong with a scrappy win, away from home, against a team that will likely be in the playoff hunt.

Starting in 2023 the CPL Champion and the club with the post points in the regular season will qualify for the CONCACAF Champions League the following year. The winner of the Canadian Championship will also qualify.

That's great news. Basically two slots guaranteed for CPL, and a third a long shot but possible via the Canadian Championship.

Not to mention if Canadian MLS clubs do well and grab an MLS qualifying slot and also won the Canadian Championship, that would create the possibility of a CPL club being "next in line" for that slot.

I want Mexicans in snow at Spruce Meadows. We are one step closer.

If anyone's interested, supporters groups across North America are doing a Prideraiser campaign in support of local LGBTQ+ charities. Our campaign in support of Calgary Outlink is currently leading the pack amongst CPL supporters groups with $173.14 pledged per Cavalry goal scored in June.

'The level is going up': International players attest to growth of Canadian Premier League

https://www.cbc.ca/sports/soccer/cpl...tial-1.6471812

Quote:
For Morelli — who joined CPL's HFX Wanderers in 2020 and claimed MVP and top goal scorer honours the following season — the future is bright for the four-year-old league.

"I've said this before: In five [to] 10 years, I think Canada will [reach the] level [of] the MLS, easily," he told CBC Sports from his hometown of Itu, Brazil, where he recovers from a torn ACL sustained early in the 2022 CPL season.
Really fun read about the growth of the CPL from the non-Canadian perspective.

Saskatoon has unveiled their stadium plan. I like it, particularly the view of that random pond for some reason.

Very nice facility. Get it done, Saskatoon!!

As much as I like ATCO, I really, REALLY wish they had cantilevered the roof over the main grandstand. Those support posts are always in the way and it drives me crazy.
