Default Tkachuk Leaves the Ice in Game 2

Tkachuk left the ice wobbly and ended up not returning. If it is a concussion he might be missing tomorrow’s game, and potentially Sunday as well. Huge loss for Calgary, even though he hasn’t been his best yet in this series.

Who comes in for him? Czarnik?

Well, I hope they don't put in Rinaldo.

Give me Czarnik, or Quine.

We're in trouble if he's out for an extended period of time.

I believe Phillips was cut, correct? Gawdin would be interesting, though the coaching staff has more comfort with Quine or Czarnik.

How do the lines shake out? He might want to break out the first line.

Gaudreau-Monahan-Bennett
Lindholm-Backlund-Mangiapane
Lucic-Ryan-Dube
Czarnik-Jankowski-Rieder

With last change tomorrow, I’d put Lindholm in Tkachuk’s spot and match them up against the Benn line. Then on the Monahan line you go with Quine if you want more size, or Czarnik if you want a little more skill.

Mangiapane - Backlund - Lindholm
Lucic - Bennett - Dube
Gaudreau - Monahan - Czarnik/Quine
Rieder - Ryan - Jankowski

I didn’t mind Bennett on the first line for the few shifts he was there. Wonder if he can bring the same jam playing with 13 and 23 for 60 minutes though

Put this in the PGT by mistake...

Presuming Chucky is out for tomorrow... I'd probably do this:

Gaudreau - Monahan - Bennett
Reider - Backlund - Mangiapane
Lucic - Lindholm - Dube
Jankowski - Ryan - Czarnik

I like Benny with Dube & Looch, but the above is probably a better spread of some strength and speed on each line... Provided they divy up the minutes I guess.

I would expect to see Quine in as 4c and Ryan moved to LW on the Backlund line.

I like that a lot. Getting Ryan going would also be great for the team.

Quine has shown capable of the 4C role and has offensive upside.

I can't imagine he will play tonight considering how wobbly he looked after getting sandwiched on his last shift.

Looked bad to me. Might be done for the series

Maybe Buddy coming up can give Johnny a 1 or 2 game boost?

Failed bump back on Benn and smashing faces with Oleksiak.... that didn’t look good at all. Especially the size difference.

Didnt make the bubble due to a high ankle sprain suffered at the end of training camp.

This club has made an identity for itself that starts with a punishing forecheck and plastering the opposition Dmen against the end boards. For that reason alone, I dont see Czarnik as an option nor for that matter, Quine.

Which leaves adding Robinson or Rinaldo to the roster. Maybe try Robinson with 23 and 13 (natural RH RW), slide Lindholm into MT's spot and leave the rest alone?

With the wobbles he had, that could be the end of his season. For the longterm, I hope they don't take any risks with it.

Please don’t put in Rinaldo. I’d probably take anybody on the reserve list over him.

Dress Rinaldo just to go out there and hurt Benn and whoever else he can get close to.

I like this. Promoting Ryan means you can also shelter the fourth line a bit, and roll three lines late if necessary (harder tonight in a back to back). Stars play big and heavy so Quine can at least hold his own.

Hate to see the head-to-head contact. That is exactly what happened to Ferland in the first shift of the Anaheim series in ,15. Really dangerous event, and hopefully Tkachuk is going to be OK.

If Tkachuk is out this is what I think we see

Gaudreau-Monahan-Bennett
Mangipane-Backlund-Lindholm
Lucic-Ryan-Dube
Rinaldo-Jankowski-Reider

If there was ever a game to start Rittich tonight would be the night with 3 games in 4 nights.

I think with the series being so physical bringing Rinaldo back to hit everything makes sense
