I remember when Willow the movie came out people were disappointed because they were expecting something that would do for fantasy what Star Wars did for sci-fi, but really it was just an entertaining movie. I think the show is similar - if you go in with high expectations you will be disappointed, but if you're looking for some light entertainment it fits the bill just fine.

Willow finale last night. Overall... it fell bit a short for me. I liked the series as a whole, and the ending had some pay off, but it honestly felt awkward with bad dialogue. It honestly just kind of felt like they had way to much footage and had to cut out a lot to fit the time frame, and that left it feeling choppy.

So again, I liked the series as a whole, and I felt there was some really powerful moments in the show. But not in this finale.
They did a good job establishing the characters relationships and showing their own battles and conflicts through out. But then when they brought it together it was just bad. The dialogue between Elora and Airke (sp?) at their 'wedding' was just so bad. Like just let the show be serious for a few moments.
I also expected some sort of big emotional pay off that paid tribute to the original movie, maybe brought the score they've been teasing through out to a surge for just a few moments of awesome Willow bliss... but it never came.
The best episodes in my opinion were the ones that directly tied to the movie, I mean that is why we are watching this show.. and there was almost none of that in the finale. We got to hear Mad Martigan talking to his daughter, that was cool (apparently its a combination of Kilmer and his sons voice being recorded) but it was short and awkward. It just didn't have any pay off. Why not show us a ghost image of youthful Martigan? Surge the music up, something powerful!
It fell flat. And then all the henchmen just are gone? These three took apart an entire castle in a raid, but can't handle one guy with a cleaver behind a door thats not even locked? Lol.
I liked the armor part I thought that was cool. Reminded me of the Knights Radiant from Stormlight Archive.
Ya.. overall great series. But bad finale imo. I didn't mind the set up for the next season though. Willow states he is on his way to becoming a powerful sorcerer, then he goes to the 'dark side'.
Overall I would rate that episode as one of the worst of the series, but I'd give the series as a whole a solid 7/10. It entertained me. It paid tribute to the original story well but established itself as a stand alone adventure. I liked the characters and the special effects/visuals were great.
That being said, this magic room they film these new shows/movies in is starting to wear on me a bit. Sometimes it just seems so over the top its to much. But I get it, for budget reasons a show like this probably doesn't even happen without it.

Also the Making of Willow or whatever it's called is a great watch. Warwick Davis throws some of his Life's to Short humour in there, including a fictitious rivalry with one of the cameo actors going back to the 80's. I laughed pretty hard.

Yes, I was pleasantly surprised that it didn’t turn out to be a typical Marvel-esque series. The humour was similar to what you’d get from an “Avenue 5”, but definitely more risqué. I loved the mundane superpowers people in this world were endowed with.
