Fred Willard has passed away of natural causes at 86. First time I saw him was in Spinal Tap greeting the band and talking about how shaggy his hair was. Master of cluelessness in those mockumentaries. His commentary in Best in Show cracked me up
God, this one sucks. One of my favorite comedic actors because he has a knack for playing the straight man but also slipping in some of the funniest reactions to what's going on around him.
Here's a scene from Waiting For Guffman, where O'hara and Levy also kill. This is incredibly funny, but this is also just a Tuesday in Willard's world. I always felt he could have been really good in Curb Your Enthusiasm.

Wow this hurts. My mom and I are obsessed with Waiting For Guffman and basically every other Christopher Guest film. Of course he also played Ed Harken on Anchorman displaying his innate talent for comedy. This is a big loss.

Willard appeared in 100 sketches on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, as a government official, businessman, or other authority figure who is always drinking. He also hosted Saturday Night Live in 1978 (musical guest: Devo) and appeared twice on MADtv. [wiki]
