We did the same, heard good things but it was dreck.

Watched Knives Out on the weekend, will concur with the other mentions of it in this thread - it was really entertaining. Rian Johnson maybe had an idea of it being a Wes Anderson without the cinematography but it really did work well. Solid performances and dialog.

Watched Ip Man 4 tonight.

I will confess to being a fan of the Ip Man franchise, but this one... this one has the fingerprints of the CPC all over it, and not for the better.

I've always liked the hokey plot lines that basically mimic old-style Westerns to a large extent, but this one was over the top anti-American (and arguably anti independent Hong Kong) and basically chock-full of overt propaganda.

The punching and kicking was still good though, so I'll give it a 6 out of 10.

Just watched Waves, about a family dealing with tragedy. It didn't go at all the way i was expecting, and had a main character for the first part and a different one for the second part. Stars Taylor Russel, who is the Lost In Space remake. Some fantastic camera work and perspectives, and a heavy movie with the subject matter.

I loved it.

I thoroughly enjoyed Official Secrets. On prime. Keira Knightley, Ralph Fiennes and some others. Woman who works for UK version of NSA leaks memo before the 2nd Iraq war.

I obviously remember a lot surrounding this but didn’t recall this specific event. #### Tony Blair. What a POS. And the Americans, but that goes without saying.

Ghost Dog!

Probably would have been a perfect career, shame about Battlefield Earth.

Loved him in Good Morning Vietnam as well, and countless other roles. Terrific actor.

His portrayal of Idi Amin in the Last King of Scotland was great.

Just watched The Vast of Night on Prime. They did an excellent job with the slow burn and building it up, but the ending was kind of meh after that. It's about a DJ and a telephone operator in the 50s who hear a weird sound broadcast as most of the town is at a basketball game.

Also watched Train to Busan this week, which I have seen on Prime for a while and finally decided to watch it. Sorry I waited so long. It's a South Korean zombie movie (apparently the first?) and while they disobey some zombie "rules" and there is a few convenient in-universe rule changes that only happen due to plot, it was a fantastically entertaining movie.

I watched for the first time Lucio Fulci Zombie film for the first time yesterday. It was pretty great, very graphic and surprisingly effective considering it came out in 79. I still prefer Romero's films but outside of Romero (because come on Romero is the GOAT of zombie films) this is one of the best Zombie films I have seen. The shark scene was absolutely bonkers and I have no idea how they filmed it.

I’d say that actually the worst of Fulci’s films at the time. It’s beloved because of the shark scene. Check out the Gates of Hell trilogy for far better films. The Beyond is the best of the three but city of the living dead and house by the cemetery are both fantastic.
