A few years back we would go fairly regular as the food was quite good. In the last year and a half it went way downhill IMO.

The worst dining experience I've had in the last 5 or so years was at the Red Water in Aspen. Good riddance.

I hope something decent opens there... Considering the demographics of the area, the dining options are shockingly underwhelming.

Any word on what's going into the old Oj's location on 130th or the irish pub just north of there? Paul's Pizza out of Airdrie is expanding into Calgary with one location slated for somewhere in the deep south. I'm hoping it's going into one of those spots.

Is it good?

I need to find a good deep south pizza place.

That being said, it is a bit like using a vibrator during sex. You can't bring out the vibrator every time you and your wife have sex otherwise it becomes common place and overlooked. You need to use it judiciously so that maximum effect is maintained.
Picturing a 40ish year old couple in bed together with a vibrator has no place in a food thread . At least substitute in something edible like a cucumber, banana or pineapple.

What's the name of the new place on the backside of Chinook Center?

I drove past the other day and noticed some new signage, but the name escapes me.

If I recall correctly its a pizza or Italian place? Or maybe its a brewpub...

Anyone been?

If you're referring to Buffo, as Fuzz suggested, it is excellent and quite reasonably priced. I have yet to have a bad experience at any of the O&B restaurants here or in Toronto.

Yup! That's the one. I live reasonably close so will have to check it out next time if we want to try something new.

I wonder how they are doing. Unless you're driving on that back street or going to/from the parking lot on that side of the mall, you wouldn't know it was there.

I doubt there is mall access either, but maybe there is.

They need some signage on the Macleod side of Chinook.

Mall access is unfortunately through the dreadful Saks. They've always been decently busy when I've been.

For me, Buffo has been the actual destination more often than otherwise and I didn't even enter the mall... Parking right "out front" is easy in that section of Chinook and it's by far the best restaurant of its kind in the vicinity.

Better than Il Centro on the other side of MacLeod?

You know, it's probably been about 10 years since I was there and you're absolutely right - the food at Il Centro is quite good.

Not quite the same vibe I had in mind when I made my comment, and I guess that's more of what I was thinking of - Buffo beats the heck outta the other sit down Chinook offerings, with the added bonus of relatively easy parking.

I'll need to remember to give Il Centro another go...

Just had bowtie over the weekend at a friends party, and was very disappointed. The meat lovers pizza tasted and looked like they just heaped on a bunch of cheap sandwich meat under the cheese, and then sprinkled fake bacon bits on top. Their pizza sauce was also strangely sweet.

Any foodies going to the upcoming BATEY X LEBOE seven course dinner at Teatro?

I only wish there were more of these pop up dinning experiences in the city.

The best things we tried were the burger/slider thing, and the squid yakitori (hold the raw egg yolk dipping sauce please).
