Power play lines need to be switched up
Never seen so many fanned passes/shot attempts in one game

And when we weren’t fanning, we were missing the net.

A little concerned about the shutout, but not really. Had to end. Let's see what happens next. That's what makes sports so interesting.

I thought after the dominance in the 1st that the Canes actually adapted really well to the Flames attack. Jame Reimer won them that game in the 1st. Stop 5 or 6 key chances that could have altered this game dramatically. That's what a goalie is supposed to do, keep them in it and give them a chance.
Thought Ritter did that for the most part until Hamiltons goal. But can't really crucify him for anything after that either.
I hope this gives them an opportunity to swap some players back into rotation and maybe start Talobot for 2 games in a row. Give him a good chunk of ice time.

If someone describes Gio as garbage, wtf does that make Janko then? Is there a word to describe that abomination?

Thought we had an unreal first period, and were unlucky not to come out with the lead. The first goal and failure on the challenge completely took away any momentum and changed the game. Too many chances went wide today, and the PP hurt us badly in the third period. I've been critical of Gio this year; too many times on the PP breakout he looks lost. Needs to simplify his game both 5v5 and on the PP. I miss him getting shots thru from the point.

His take is cranked to 11 but the baseline of his thought isnt wrong. Gio has been a noticable couple of steps backwards this year. That's not saying he sucks, but more a natural regression to the norm from a Norris trophy season.

Lucic needs to on the top unit powerplay with his feet planted in front of the crease.

Streak enders tend to be lopsided, even though the game really wasn't.
This team just cant allow things like botched challenges to get under their skin. BS happens pretty much nightly, you just have to roll through it and get them back.

Rinaldo should really be in the lineup over Jankowski for the foreseeable future.

Monahan and JG need a finisher on the line. Ferland should still be paying those guys parts of his salary after giving him the goal totals they did. Last year it was/is Lindholm.
Backlund gets nowhere near far enough to the danger zone to get those finishing type goals, because being in that area means you’re likely going to have to pay the price to standing said zone. Backlund doesn’t want to be hit.
His two on one was terrible, and on 2 3 on 2s, JGplayed it to the player on the other side each time.

Felt like a classic game where one team dominates in the 1st but doesn't score and it comes back to bite them.
Could have been 4 or 5-0 after one.
Hope we see Bennett, Czar, or Rinaldo in for Janko vs PIT. Rieder played 4C recently I believe.

True. But there’s a really, really thick line between garbage and Norris candidate, and Gio is nowhere near crossing it.
Bummer loss, but bound to happen. Just keep playing consistently hockey, Flames are in a good position and the rest of the season will be hard fought no doubt.

Can someone explain to me how that was ON side? Just watching tape delayed right now, maybe they will explain it later?

Also Gio always plays against top players. Not easy to maintain that level of consistency at any age.
