I was following the SJ boards last year when we were battling them for the conference last year. Fans were calling for his head even while they were winning, feeling like he didn’t understand today’s game or how to deploy players properly. The general consensus was they were winning despite him (and Jones).

I find that coaches tend to be an extremely convenient scapegoat for fans who can be blamed for practically every issue on the team. It seems clear as day to me that the issue in SJ is that the roaster is old, lacks depth, and has suspect goaltending. These are not things that coaches can fix.

After the terrible start the Sharks had it was pretty frustrating to see them coke storming back. Glad they've #### the bed again and hopefully this coaching change doesnt get them rolling again.

Maybe it's me but I kind of felt they had overachieved with DeBoer. Their goaltending was horrible last season and they still got over 100 points with an old and declining roster. I feel this season after losing Pavelski and even depth guys like Donskoi that they could go no further on smoke and mirrors and this season's record more accurately reflects the overall roster as I don't see a lot of differences between their roster and the Kings. Maybe they looked at the Flames winning six in a row after changing coaches and felt that's the jumpstart they needed but the Flames were actually underachieving badly while the Sharks still get terrible goaltending and have a worse roster than last season.

A team can only storm back on coke for so long.
