In so many words Burke said he told Babcock that their styles wouldn’t mix when he too over. He offered him a 1 Year deal but Detroit tampered and Babcock went there instead. Burke was fine with it.
He said Babcock was too much like Keenan who likes to play with guy’s heads. Burke must prefer his coaches to just but an A-hole like Crawford rather than an A-Hole inflicting petty cruelty like Babs.

Better off just saying what you intend it to mean: take some accountability for your actions.
You definitely dont need to be "a man" in order to do that, and in my experience, I actually think women tend to do a better job with that.
Its probably more accurate to tell someone "to be a woman" about it. I obviously don't plan on using neither expression, but illustrating perhaps why the expression makes no sense.

Is “Cowboy up” still ok? I always kind of liked that one.

It has been changed to “cow person, try your best”.

"Yelling and swearing"? Is that what you think this is about?

If people call me a p**** I couldn’t care less. Someone call me a coward. You better bet I ain’t no coward!

even better. just call someone a goof.
in certain circles, that's a most grievous insult.

I'm not sure if the link will work, but Robin Lehner had a long conversation with Mark Lazarus about the coach-firing thing and about mental health resources and education in the NHL...

Almost unheard of for a player to talk at length about an ongoing league issue like that.

the poster I replied to was talking about insults. I was just saying that if you want to insult someone, that the biggest one I know of is to be called a goof.
I wasn't inferring any of the coaches or people here were one.
I just didn't want to say outright about the where I've normally heard it used.

Yeah when I was younger I didn’t realize how big of an insult calling someone a goof was especially to someone who spent time in prison, almost got my teeth knocked in.

The forum won't seem to allow quoting a post right now, so speaking specifically to nobles_point post #221.
I've heard Burke speak about this Bobcock Anaheim situation 5 or 6 times now, but never this particular explanation.
Every time I've hear him tell it (Toronto radio, Calgary radio, etc...) he notes that their preferred style of game play were different. Babcock preferred softer teams while Burke preferred a meaner style of play. He knew Detroit had talked to Babcock (he joked about tampering each time) and told Babcock he should go with Detroit if they give him a good deal. If not, Burke would have brought him back to Anaheim.
I've never heard Burke talk about Babcock playing with players heads. I'm curious if Burke is adjusting his narrative to get on the better side of the Babcock story.

Going back to the Chelios interview, I can't believe the games he played with Chelios' head. Only allowed him the opening shift at the winter classic, then benched him.
Didn't let him play in the SCF after playing all season and all playoff.

It would be taken that way. Nothing wrong with daddy calling his kid a goofball. Gordon said in “some circles”... unless you’re calling him one from prison?

You’re correct. It’s taken that way by the general population. Just be careful who you say it around lol

I always heard the term was "skinner", which made me feel bad for Jeff.
