The VP9 compression appears pretty impressive.

I'm very excited about Google Play Music All Access. I've tried hard to love Rdio, but can't get past some of the UI/functionality choices.

All Access Streaming gets a big 'meh' from me.

Why would I pay Google if I can pay Rdio? And why would I pay either when Pandora is basically free?

Still no sort options in Play Music. I don't think I could use a music player that can't sort albums by an artist chronologically.

It definitely looks much nicer than the last one though. The previous version was downright ugly but this one is quite simple and attractive.

Google has added the feature to upload your own ebooks to Google Play Books. This means you can upload your own files and read them on any of your devices with the Google Play Books ereader app installed.
Neat!

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought Pandora doesn't let you choose the song you want to listen to? That's a pretty huge deal-killer for most.

It doesn't, and that's why it can be free. But for playing random music you like, Pandora is pretty awesome. Having Pandora apps on all my tvs, stereos, phones, etc is really what makes Pandora nice. I'd hate to pay $10 a month for only having access on my phone.

You are right. Pandora is basically a create your own radio station. I use it a lot at work or home for dinner parties or card night kind of things. Have a bout 25 different radio station styles so the mix is decent.

Haven't checked out Google Music in awhile, perhaps it is time to try it again.

It doesn't, which as has been pointed out is the reason it is free.

But, what Pandora does is give you the ability to keep a song from being played in your various stations. Which means it is almost always randomly picking songs for me that I WANT to listen too.

The service is amazing. Music discovery at its best. I would gladly pay for it too if it were legally available in Canada.

The Google Music update is pretty freakin' awesome.

It might not have all the features we want, but as a cloud music player, it works pretty damn good.

Isn't the Google Music All Access the same as Pandora? In that it's just custom radio stations, rather than actually saying "Play this entire album now"?

Given the positive response to Pandora perhaps it's time I rearranged my ideas about Apple making a huge mistake about building a Pandora clone. It's not something that's ever appealed to me, but perhaps I'm in the minority.

Honestly the only bad thing about Pandora is that it isn't freely available in Canada. There are ways to circumvent that problem though.

It's both. I just signed up for the free trial. Says it is $7.99/month after that if you subscribe by june 30.

It is pretty slick. I can have on demand access to any album or song they have.
