That's I think why they had to be careful with how they got rid of Peter's. AA was very careful not to mention that any apology happened at all. Some might argue that it doesn't matter. But when you have a similar tale but one guy says he didn't apologize and one said he did, the Flames as a team were put into a spot that sucks.

We are still left with no assurance that an apology was delivered. People's memories are notoriously flawed, so I am not the least bit surprised if there was a form of an apology uttered by Peters that Aliu did not recognize as such.

Peters said he apologized to the room. Aliu said he didn't get an apology. I see room for both of those statements to be more or less true. And I think Aliu was deserving of a personal apology.

People have done much worse and got second chances. Peters will be back coaching in the NHL in the not too far future.

Why do we need assurance of anything? Why are we still talking about this... pretty sure the Flames have moved on.

Marc Crawford will be back coaching next month and what he did was arguably worse.

Sounds like Peter's did many of the same things as Crawford in addition to using that word. I doubt we see him again in the NHL.

The last two teams he left are arguably better as a result... so there is also that.

No way, imo. If it was just the racist thing then time would heal and a team would take him on. It's all the other stuff that came out about him being a Babcock junior that players despised and stopped playing for.
Because of those two factors I think teams will just see him as abusive old school coach that is less and less tolerated with each passing day, plus the racist thing. No way anyone touches that.

He's coming back from a suspension, not having to find opening and apply for it with a bunch of other candidates who haven't been outed as old school, abusive coaches with a huge racist mark against him.
Surely you see the difference?

His apology was also a heck of a lot more sincere and thoughtful...and mentions the professional behaviour counceling program...so he's at least been doing something about it.
Bill just writes this half-ass apology, resigns, then goes into hiding...

And it says he addressed the issue with the relevant players a long time ago, which Peters never did.
