sPACEMan.

Played a game called Everquest. GM banned my character name of Spaceman. So I changed it to Pacem. I've continued to use that username for most message boards I am a member of. Come to learn it means Peace in latin or something like that. A reference to some sort of God. *shrug*

In high school I was fairly skinny but started to get a bit chunky in grade 12. After high school I started working out and was building some decent muscle. A friend noticed and said, "Hey, you're Buffed." Another (oblivious) friend said something like "Buff is is alter-ego?" and the nickname of Buff was born back in the mid 90s. The wrestler stole my nickname... but he was one of my favorites because of his name... though I'm more embarrassed to admit that now.

Nobody calls me that anymore. Mostly because I became more puff than buff. I wasn't exactly all that buff when I signed up but I still used that nickname at the time.

I am a lot closer to living up to my old nickname again, but still have a ways to go.

I wonder if we should use this thread to grant one-time amnesty for posters to finally just admit who they were under a different account.

If you're going to grant amnesty, grant it all the way. Let all banned posters back. Turn off the containment unit like in Ghostbusters.

Do it.

Found it!

In fact there is a thread with an INDENTICAL title (which i found within 10 seconds with a quick search) to this one from the 7th of February.
I am not sure why casual users should be allowed to re-post instead of search and in so doing drive away regular viewers who don't want to see the same thing posted over and over?

Um. No.
That would be chaos.
Fire and brimstone coming down from the skies! Rivers and seas boiling!
40 years of darkness! Earthquakes, volcanoes!
The dead rising from the grave!
Human sacrifice, dogs and cats living together, mass hysteria!

Can't do that.

Nothing fancy. Used to think Bob & Doug were funny when I was younger and have fond memories of playing Beer Hunter with friends. When I first moved to the US, it seemed that people still knew these guys so the McKenzie brother cracks were plentiful.

SCTV was absolutely great. So was their album. The movie Strange Brew not so much.

I used to play CounterStrike and needed a handle. I’m not sure why exactly I picked this Canadian band but it looked like a decent name. I’ve just used it for anything online since. It always gets shortened to FF.

Furnaceface had a number of silly songs. One about a fat girlfriend and none better than this one about Tipper Gore. They were _sort of_ going for a Skid Roper Mojo Nixon vibe.

NSFW!

I’m about as creative as Thor.

I’m a Flames fan. When I joined the Board, I was living in Iowa City working on a PhD in English Lit at the University of Iowa. The name didn’t seem fun or exciting or anything, but it was easy to think of.

Now, I no longer live in Iowa; I’ve been back in Calgary for almost 10 years. The username is maybe the last legacy of that chapter in my life, though I do sometimes wish I’d picked something more original.

Funnily enough, apart from being lazy username choosers, Thor and I have another thing in common.......

Icelandic. We’re both Icelandic. What were YOU thinking?

Throw in Lanny MacDonald and we could let those 2 go at it again. Their battles were legendary.

Character from a fantasy novel. An character seeking his place in the world who named himself 'Resolute' as a manifestation of his will. Had to add Fleury's number since someone already registered just "Resolute", and made like 1 post so the mods wouldn't (or couldn't) let me usurp the name.

I never wanted a Christmas present so badly every year as this. Lanny MacDonald OG would be my dream come true.
