They've given up talking about any car features and functionality at all now. I wish they had talked about the Miata a little more. With all the talk about the Alfa supposedly being light with all the carbon fibre, the new Miata actually weighs practically the same. The new Miata/MX-5 has so many cool features like the one-handed soft roof that's super easy to use. It would have been great to see them actually deal with rain or sandstorms in the other cars.
This is the first car that reasonable people would actually buy and it was too bad they couldn't compare and contrast it a little more with the higher priced cars. I miss that part of old top gear when they would actually speak about the usability of cars that people could actually afford.

5 was by far the best of the season thus far. Found Clarkson hilarious this episode.
It was the little things that did it for me:
- ridiculing the cheap crap in the 4C
- things going awry with the weighing by animal had them off script and much more genuine.
- the actual trip seemed to have a little more purpose.
- some gorgeous scenery in Morocco

Episode 6 was great. Seemed to be more about cars which culminated in a great documentary piece on the Ferrari/Ford wars in the 60's that Top Gear used to excel at (remember the Saab one?).
The episode was clearly sponsored by Ford, and the Mustang bit seemed to be a bit of an infomercial. But - when you bust out a historic GT40 and a gorgeous Ferrari P3 and put it on the track - who gives a shiznit?! I can't even imagine how much the insurance was for that segment.

Maybe it's my childhood connection of the brand with the phrase "Found On Road Dead" but the last episode literally put me to sleep. The Mustang was boring and when James May started droning into the Ford/Ferrari story, I completely lost consciousness. A very dull episode for me.
I still find it awkward that they are still using completely British lingo and idioms in foreign countries with a global show that could be very confusing to audiences like when in front of a Finnish audience, they launched into the bit with the Double Decker and Flake bars (UK exclusive chocolate bars) and with the Jumpers, etc. I guess that's part of their charm? It skirts dangerously close to the audience not getting their jokes.

I really enjoyed the Mustang and GT40/Ferrari segments. That's the type of stuff that made me love Top Gear. The rest was boring.

I've watched the first 8 episodes and now I'm wondering if I misremembered how good the old Top Gear was, or if this new incarnations is really ####. The contrived drama is totally unbelievable and awful. In my opinion, The Grand Tour is almost as bad as the new Top Gear, except TG still has the star in the reasonably priced car
I've stopped watching this show. I can't count the times I've fallen asleep on the couch trying to enjoy it like old Top Gear. It's just way too contrived and it's lost the plot and charm of the old Top Gear.

Maybe that's because of your pathological hatred for Clarkson?
Yep, bad show is bad.
last episode borderline unwatchable. I tried to sit down to watch it twice, couldn't make it.
Harris is awesome. LeBlanc is passable, if wooden. Rory has a ton of passion for cars.
Limited Sabine though. Boo.
The new top gear couldn't get any worse so hopefully it gets better.
As for Grand tour it had to many episodes and should have been broken up more.you can kinda tell they are doing it for the pay check and to be free from the BBC.
