It still seems ridiculous there is no camera locked at the crossbar's height.
There is never a camera angle that is obvious enough. We saw that in the playoffs with the BS Nate Thompsons goal that was clearly highsticked but no angle could prove it.

"no angle could prove it"
lol, that puck was clearly like a foot above the crossbar

That one seemed pretty obviously below, to me, but I agree that they need cameras for this. Or once they get sensor pucks, that will also work.

And yet they called it a goal.

4 for Ovechkin tonight, on pace for 344 goals this season. Hopefully he gets there.

Probably went to save his spot on the parade route when it was 5-1.

Ovechkin has already scores more goals this year than forwards who end up playing 82 games will...

I don't know how they don't have a Hawkeye type system, or what soccer does for goal reviews now
You don't need a camera right on the line

The floodgates have opened in Florida finally. Losing 3-2 after 2 periods, but outshooting the Lightning 40-something to 16, the Panthers have come out in the 3rd and put up 3 goals in 2.5 minutes, including a goal that was initially waved off for goaltender interference, even though the player never touched the goalie.
5-3 Panthers over Tampa Bay at the moment.

If anyone is curious why the offside challenge is stupid in general, check into the leafs / rangers goal. Play that had no real effect on the immediate goal, but now puts the rangers on the power play

This is a very confusing post. Do you mean that it's stupid to use an offside challenge? Or that it's stupid to give them a power play for using it?
Frankly I think that was perfect for the NHL to have that happen on HNIC. Puts the league on notice that it's a bad idea to just throw out a challenge just for ####s and giggles on a play that isn't clearly offside. Now they're down 2 and it's basically game over, or would be if this wasn't the Leafs.

You mean put the Leafs on the PP?
The offside challenge is so stupid. The penalty was put in to prevent coaches from using the review as a hail mary but Vigneault's silly challenge just showed it's not much of a deterrent.

Sorry for the confusion. I mean the existence of the challenge altogether. The penalty should lower the number of stupid challenges, but it's lipstick on the pig in my opinion
Edit: and yes I did mean leafs on PP
