Default Tampa Bay and Dallas viewing parties

Why is the league allowing this? I assume this is at the home arenas for both teams.

First it sends a really bad message, second it’s unsafe, and third if they are having viewing parties like this why not just bring the fans back?

I have a bad feeling they are going to have different rules in the states compared to the Canada this coming season.

Texas and Florida have republican governors that have knee pads stamped with Trumps name, this would never happen in NY, California or Michigan and many others

The TX governor is in a wheelchair so the knee pads would not be a thing for him.
There are no fans in TX at sporting events yet, while other states have some fans at outdoor events.

I know certain states (Colorado for one) are allowing small groups of fans for minor hockey. They have a Democrat governor FWIW. You’re seeing more NFL teams that will start to have limited fans in attendance albeit in mostly outdoor stadiums.

I guess they put 5000 fans in the arena in Dallas. That’s a little surprising when there are no fans at baseball games etc.

Ok I guess he doesn't need the knee pads and the Cowboys had over 21,000 fans at their game.

Why can’t the league step in?

Bettman is usually so thorough and diligent. This seems unlike him.

Bettman has deferred to the local health authorities in every jurisdiction throughout this thing.

Texas and Florida authorities allow such gatherings.

My mistake. Of course that’s not exactly a decision made by the governor. No fans at the Texans game, as the decision is made by the team with civic and county officials who make health orders.

I guess your point is it’s all about politics which is certainly true more than I wish it was even if it’s not quite as clear cut as you’re making it.

If this was in Canada I would understand why it would matter. Good luck convincing half the American public covid actually exists.

I'm not surprised that there are viewing parties for both teams. I'm surprised at the NHL allowing the live feeds of these events to be shown on the screens in the arena on live national television. Bad look.

Are you that out of touch that you don't understand how the US economy and Covid in the US affects Canadians?

Yeah, this sounds really silly given the state of spread in both these states.

Will having family in Dallas be reason enough for you?

I don't think there is much the NHL can do to stop this. Neither team owns their own arena. They are both property of the city or county.

There are sporting events going on all over North America and the world with some amount of spectators in the stands. I hope for the most part they’re following appropriate safety protocols.

Why the emphasis on these two events? Aren’t movie theatres open many parts of Canada?

Not saying I’d go to one of these or that it’s a great idea but this isn’t some packed indoor party with no one observing safety procedures either.
