God that game should have been 5-0...bunch of flukes

I wouldn't have challenged that goal though, goalie isn't anywhere near the crease

I can almost guarantee that if the Flames scored that exact same goal against the Blues it would have been ruled goaltender interference,

Apparently, Kassian's hits in this game were all unintentional.

After all that, Draisaitl ends up a minus on the night for the 11th time in the last 12 games, and the only reason it isn’t 12 straight games as a minus is that a late goal to pull the Oilers within 1 against Minnesota pulled him back to 0 that game.

Goal credited to Nugent-Hopkins.

He skated right through the blue paint and ran into Allen, no way that goal should have counted.

Exactly. Friedman was talking after the game, saying it wasn’t intentional. since when does intention ever make a difference in whether an infraction like that is a penalty?

Think Friedman has been hanging around with Oiler fan boy Ron MacLean a bit too much.

Also nowhere near the puck. And Kassian prevented him from getting back to the crease.

Interference includes a situation where;

(2) an attacking player initiates more than incidental contact with a goalkeeper, inside or outside of his goal crease. Incidental contact with a goalkeeper will be permitted, and resulting goals allowed, when such contact is initiated outside of the goal crease, provided the attacking player has made a reasonable effort to avoid such contact. The rule will be enforced exclusively in accordance with the on-ice judgement of the Referee(s), and not by means of video replay or review.

It may be that the war room was bound by the bad call on the ice.

^ but isn’t incidental contact usually somewhat glancing? You know, not simply skating right through the guy? Who isn’t in possession of the puck? Seemed like solid contact for which any skater on Calgary would be penalized

And the provision of reasonable attempt to avoid... he didn’t turn his skates or anything

Friedman pandering to the Oilers faithful on multiple occasions this season is sad to see. Enough media guys do that already. Need some level headed ones to bring some sense to the discussions.

1at 3

The Devils win their 2nd straight game!

4at 1

The Avs are riding the hot hand of Pavel Francouz, the guy has been terrific in net for the Avs. This is a one sided season series as Colorado has won all the 3 games so far, the total scoring is 16-5.

1 at 2 in regulation

The Oilers are sinking and McDavid should be demoted to 3rd/4th line centre after his brain freeze moment of letting MacEachern go by easily to score. LOL. Heck, just take a holding penalty would've been a smart defensive play. Jake Allen won his first home ice win since last January making 35 saves. Both goalies played well with Koskinen facing 44 shots.

That is not the current rule. I don't know how old it is, but Rule 78 isn't even about goalie interference anymore. The first clue that it's out of date is that it says video replay isn't used to enforce it but that's been under the Coach's Challenge rule since it was introduced.

Here's the current rule book: https://nhl.bamcontent.com/images/as...-file/file.pdf

Rule 69 (nice) covers goalie interference.

Thanks, I linked too soon - it sounded wrong even as I read it.

Further to my link to the incorrect rule - I wasn't saying it was incidental contact - I was saying the opposite. Here's the rule:

9.4 Contact Outside the Goal Crease - If an attacking player initiates
any contact with a goalkeeper, other than incidental contact, while the
goalkeeper is outside his goal crease, and a goal is scored, the goal
will be disallowed.
A goalkeeper is not “fair game” just because he is outside the goal
crease. The appropriate penalty should be assessed in every case
where an attacking player makes unnecessary contact with the
goalkeeper. However, incidental contact will be permitted when the
goalkeeper is in the act of playing the puck outside his goal crease
provided the attacking player has made a reasonable effort to avoid
such unnecessary contact.
When a goalkeeper has played the puck outside of his crease and
is then prevented from returning to his crease area due to the
deliberate actions of an attacking player, such player may be
penalized for goalkeeper interference.
Similarly, the goalkeeper may
be penalized, if by his actions outside of his crease he deliberately
interferes with an attacking player who is attempting to play the puck
or an opponent.
