what was the MTL rumour again? Did they like Brodie? What about something around this just to start a discussion:

Brodie + Jankowski + Frolik for Drouin + Armia + 2nd/3rd/or 4th...

Depends on the outcomes...if they make it to the 2nd or 3rd round next year...keep rolling. If they don't...identify the problem and make changes. I much prefer the Washington model of being consistently good and making adjustments until your window finally closes as opposed to loading up every year.

Bold statement from me...but the capitals would likely be sitting on multiple cups if they hadn't made dumb trades like Forsberg for the sake of change...

Really unhappy with the Flames but its early. They need to make some moves but I'm sure they'll do something.

Now I want Ferland so he can grind Kadri to dust every time they play the avs. Stoopid kadri!

Given that Montreal struck out today...I don't know that they have the forward depth to make a move like this. I would look at top heavy teams like: Tampa, Pittsburgh, Florida, Washington or Winnipeg.

The only ones from that list that actually make sense to me would be Winnipeg (hard to trade with), Florida or Pittsburgh

We’re trying to get tougher. Trading Bennett after already losing Hathaway just makes us even more deficient in that area.

Why even include him? Drop the 2nd from Montreal and balance it out.

You think so? I love Tkachuk and he is one of my favourite players. That being said, I doubt the Avs are worried about Tkachuk after his latest playoff performance. I hope Tkachuk changes that though!

That's a fair point. I just dont think Brodie for Drouin is something Montreal would be interested in.

No thanks I have no interest in swapping soft Drouin for Bennett even if he puts up a lot more points.

He did say every time we play the Avs and I don’t see Tkachuk getting softer anytime soon. I’d bet he’ll be more himself next playoffs too.

We have no idea what the rest of that trade looked like.

I doubt it was Brodie for Kadri straight up, considering the Avs needed to retain half of Barrie’s cap hit to make it work.

Personally I like Brad's approach up to this point. I'm hopeful we stay the course with our team and not make any drastic moves. I'd prefer to keep all our good value contracts (including Brodie and Frolik). If moves are needed purely for cap reasons, lets trade a retained Neal or buyout Stone as a last resort.
