MEP for me, just seems like he is closer to the NHL than Pelletier.

I vote in order of NHL readiness. A lot of guys with high ceilings left but IMO even though he’s not a fancy toy or even well liked on this board I’d wager anything Lomberg plays more NHL games then anyone else on this list this season, so he got my vote.

I voted for Pettersen. For me it was between him, Parsons and Pelletier, but I think he is closer to the NHL than Pelletier with a similar ceiling. Parsons had an off year and that’s why slides down my list.

Pelleteir

Phillips
Pospisil
Pettersen

We're gonna have 4 or 5 last names that start with P in a row here because a lot of you are still high on Parsons.

I don't think Jeremy McKenna should be on the list since he's not Flames property.

So far for me

#1. Valimaki
#2. Dube
#3. Kylington
#4. MEP
#5. Phillips
#6. Pelletier — I want to see what he looks like this upcoming season before I fit him into the top 5

He signed an AHL deal that will leave him as a UFA when it ends, and under which he cannot play games for the Calgary Flames. If he has a good year in Stockton then I suspect the Flames would sign him to a two-way deal, but as of today they do not own his NHL rights.

Weird.

For a team that has graduated a tonne of prospects to the NHL over the past couple of years, and which just finished near the top of the NHL Standings I have actually been fairly impressed by the quality and quantity of competition in this year's rankings.

Tough choice between the 3 getting votes here... I went with Parsons as I believe he has the highest ceiling of the 3... my guess is he has, by far, the lowest floor, too.

Are we going to include McKenna in the prospect rankings? Technically he isn't flames property, since he signed an AHL only deal.

I think I am too jaded to pick a goalie in the top 5.

I think for me it will go:

Pelletier
Pettersen
Pospisil
Philips

Voted Zavgorodny, my reasoning posted in previous voting round:

1) I felt he was the single most impressive Flames forward prospect in preseason. More than Dube or Mangiapane even, despite being 18 years old. A buzzsaw player with a very explosive offensive skillset and some real speed

2) He was one of Rimouski's better penalty killers and also had some absolutely incredible five on five metrics. There's some real two way upside here. Even if he doesn't make it as an obvious producer, he could be a Paul Byron type.

3) Early on in the year, when he was on the top powerplay and the top ES line, he started off on an absolute tear with 26 points in 15 games. Eventually he lost his role to someone else and finished the year on the second powerplay and the middle six at ES, but this seems to have more to do with the fact that Alexis Lafreniere, who plays the same position, is being touted as a clearcut first overall type in the 2020 draft.

4) Unlike Pelletier and Pettersson, he's a right handed shot, which would give him a leg up on all but Phillips in actually cracking our roster and special teams during the Gaudreau/Tkachuk/Bennett/Mangiapane/Dube/Monahan/Backlund/Jankowski "era".

The obvious knocks on him would be

1) Size. No getting around it, he's a smaller player. But so are Pelletier, Pettersson and Phillips.

2) Production. After the hot start he went ice cold. Pelletier and Pettersson seem to have the edge in production last year. I don't see this as a primarily player issue, more a team issue as Rimouski had a LOT of overage players plus the aformentioned Lafreniere. More opportunity should open up next season. And even more still, once we get him into Stockton.

3) Russian factor. I don't really think this one's big... the guy's actually training in Calgary in his offseason, even though he was too injured to participate in dev camp. Who really knows, though.

So overall I've got him ranked at the top of that second tier, just ahead of Pelletier, but I don't expect him to garner many votes other than my own.

Both versions of his first and last names seem to get used for some reason:
