You have to be a blind hater to think the Oilers aren't a top team. We got the league's brightest young talent at almost every position. Got nowhere to go but up in our nice new arena
Haha! The stars aligned for them last year. They're one injury away from going back to the basement. They better pucker up or that horseshoe might slip out.

Every position eh, did the people in your television box tell you that?

It's gonna be great when the Flames actually end up being the more promising/legit team on the ice. We'll see how much a shiny arena your town got bent over to pay for means at that point.

I think you'll find that having two stars eating up a huge chunk of your cap, a couple of bad contracts preventing you from offering market value to upcoming free agents and awful depth in the team and the system is the very opposite of a 'nice problem to have'. Chicago have one of those three and still struggle but at least they had a couple of cups first.

The Oilers are like that chick you went to high school with that used to be hot but who was a complete beeyatch. She hit her twenties and caught a few std's and started packing on the weight at an alarming rate. Now she got a fluke inheritance, did a boob job and crushed some diet pills and goes around hysterically telling everyone how hot she is again, but you just know she'll be enormous soon and back on the meth.

I've heard lots about how great the ice district is in Edmonton, & how it's reinvigorating a section of their downtown. However most of it is just vague semantics and I've come across minimal city planning expertise, just Katz tire pumping.

There seems to be a disconnect between what's being said, what's actually being done and how it's actually being funded.

Having one developer (Katz) dominate a development would not inspire me with confidence either. His groups goal is to maximize profit while meeting mimimum standards mandated for public benefit. Competition is always betters outcomes.

They still have a long way to go before the downtown is even remotely "revitalized." Soon as you leave Rogers Place there are hobo's begging for change and peeing on the street. My wife took my kids on an LRT ride downtown on Saturday around noon and was super uncomfortable as a drunk homeless guy kept following them around and trying to talk to them with zero police presence around. Downtown is garbage.

Are we sure that is not confetti and streamers from their Stanley Cup parade?

Those last 2 posts would be the perfect start for a new thread. Split them out Textcritic, it's the right thing to do!

Can someone tell Jesse Puljuarvi it's a hockey helmet and not a hat. He looked downright comical last night. His visor starts above his eye brows.

I agree though, his bucket looks two sizes too small.
