Bottom line though and I was thinking of this. I know from a show making standpoint making Isaac with blue eyes makes him easily recognizable. But what if Primary isn't Primary, but Isaac is?

Watched the latest episode last night. That was fantastic. The story, the acting, the effects...all top notch. Great cliffhanger too!

Really liked the scene where Mercer confronts Isaac about the remains found beneath the city. Isaac says "It's none of your concern", to which Mercer replies "well, I'm making it my concern."

I think that was the best acting we've seen yet from MacFarlane on this show. Great job by him in that scene.

Nailed down what the Kaylon are. The matter of fact way that Primary said, yes we exterminated them because we were incompatible, but we took no pleasure in it.


That last part was such a piece of theater because machines don't feel period. You just had a sense that once Ed confronted Isaac about the bodies that things were going to go bad.


The biggest question is why they took prisoners? I know they just can't elimate the crew of a TV show and come back next year with a show about a million identical Kaylons. But I wonder if there's a purpose to keeping the crew alive?

The visuals are getting better every episode they go with the no clutter clean look unlike Discovery which cranks up the lens dazzle and uses the Rick McCallum "it's so dense; every single frame has so many things going on" look.

I really have talked about how the visuals have gotten better and better, and in every episode there's at least one incredibly beautiful piece of visual art.


This episode had that as well, though the close up of the Orville flying through the Kaylon city did look pretty toy like.


What makes this show so much better for me then Star Trek right now is their use of simple but strong visual effects and the MUSIC is allowed to be heard.


Half the time I don't even know if Star Trek has background mood setting music because the show is so chaotically loud.

Some good moments tonight, but mostly a cliche-ridden episode that was quite disappointing.


I expected better after last week.

I liked the fake death of Yaphit.


Gordon was stellar tonight with the pee corner, and trying to cozy up to the Kaylons.


I absolutely loved the battle scene, it was chaotic ships were getting hit with other ships. It was chaotic and when the ships started dropping off you thought that there was a chance that they would get some licks in on earth.


I was wrong on the Isaac redemption, though I still think that they'll circle back on some crew members not treating him the same.


I still chuckle at Avis "I told you I wasn't kidding about that".


Could it have been better? Sure, but I thought it was a good hour of TV.

The effects during the climactic space battle were fantastic, and I liked how chaotic it felt. I thought they did a great job portraying the desperation and seriousness of the situation (even with Gordon's Top Gun quotes, lol.)

The battle had me on the edge of my seat and my heart in my throat as the Union fleet was taking a pounding. The audience never got to see the battle of Wolf 359 years ago and I assume this is what it would have looked like.

I kept thinking how TNG and DS9 had to wait years and years to show a full on space battle due to special effects and budgetary constraints. And when they did, it was quite limited in scope.

Shows how far we've come. That was far superior to any ST battles on TV and on par or superior to any of the battles from the film series' (not counting the new cast movies).

The resolution was somewhat predictable with Isaac turning good again but was handled well enough. The Krill part was rushed a bit but understandable.

To be fair I liked the fleet battles in DS9. And the large scale battle in BSG in the made for tv movie.


But this battle was great, and what I enjoyed the most. The external shots of the Orville after the battle where it looked beat to pieces.


The one nice touch was the bulkhead explosion where crew members were sucked into space.


I can't say I'm crazy about the Krill ship designs, but their fighter design and the union one man fighters were great designs.


We didn't see enough of the Union heavy cruisers in battle though, I was expecting to see one or two massive ships opening fire.

I really enjoyed tonight's episode and its about time that we had a Gorden centered episode.

It asks the age old question of how far are you willing to go for vengence, and at the same time how far are you willing to take your friendship?


Scott Grimes was just exceptionally good in this episode.


I liked the question of the union desperately wanting to make peace with the Krill in the face of the Kaylon threat.


At the end of it all was the question was how much was peace worth if you have to sell out to achieve it. We know what the Krill are, Gordon summarized it so well calling them butchering Zealots, but its clear that the Kaylon are such a threat that its ok to get in bed with another enemy to counter it.


I liked that they put Isaac in the background for two scenes, I'm sure that at some point he will pay a price for his choices.


You can tell that this episode was made on a budget after probably blowing it over that exceptional battle last week as they recycled a lot of space shots from earlier episodes.


I've said it before Scott Grimes is a god damned treasure.


I've noticed that Ed Mercer is now the series straight man. But I loved his heart to heart with Scott where he tells Gordon that he's the only one that he can confide in.


I'm really starting to like Talia, but she seems to get shot as part of her job. But I did like her boarding procedures of the Krill including snapping on the rubber gloves.

Does anyone else notice that the later episodes in each season seem to be so much better than the earlier ones? Maybe one thing with TNG/DS9 is that because they made so many more episodes per season the actors could get into a groove with their characters more? Seth Macfarlane has improved as the straight man now he isn't just trying to copy Picard, but I do find his right eyelid somewhat distracting. It is very much not symmetrical with his left. And Talia is such an improvement over Alara, both the character and the actor.

Obviously Scott Grimes stole the whole show tonight. Simply outstanding, and Gordon is easily my favorite character.
