Default Backlund possibly out for "a while" -Shannon

"Sounds like Flames’ Forward Michael Backlund might be out for awhile after a hit from Matt Dumba."

Oy...that's not good

Hopefully not, but it could be a good opportunity for Bennett or Jankowski. Or possibly Neal if they move Lindholm to center. I imagine Dube gets called up again and would have an opportunity.

He's probably in concussion protocol but I doubt even the doctors could come to the conclusion this quickly that he's going to be out for a while.

Could have been avoided if the refs didn't blatantly avoid calling the trip on him for the EN.

Unless it’s a clear shoulder issue (dislocation) or collarbone, not sure how Shannon would know this early.

Shannon was in the Dome no? He always likes a flair for the dramatic when he’s on the ground in any rink, and my guess is him and Francis start hyperbolizing together feeding off each other and this is the result. As GioPM says, no way they know yet. Backlund went unassisted to the room, and yes in the quiet room.

Or if Monahan puts the puck into the empty net instead of trying too hard to be unselfish.

I suppose it could maybe be some other type of injury but I can't imagine they can diagnose the severity of a concussion this quick.

I'm not putting this on Monny, but yea that was freaking bad. I think/hope he believed it was Lindholm next to him and he wanted him to get the hatty.

Well put it this way, Shannon is speculating that he either has a concussion or shoulder or neck. Any of those could be a while I guess

If he is out, I would consider temporary moving Lindholm to center his own line

So who gets the job of shadowing McDingleberry on Sunday if Backs is out?

As long as he can stay on the wing on that line too.

There is no way you break up the top line with the roll they’re on.
