Self suspends, just spends more time on TWO other hockey forums. That's the kind of smarts you just can't buy.

His anticipation and pressure and pinches are what sets him apart his year. Relentless and never gets tired. Knows he going to get hit and knows he’s taking a risk with a pinch or a tough pass, but is so smart and sees everything and is completely trusted by Brodie (and trusting of) never mind Smith, and, the forwards who know they have to get open and he will find them.

The pass to JG on the second goal was a beauty example of that...a nothing play on most teams and just a dump out, but JG takes off to the boards, knownig it’s Gio who is looking for him. 6 seconds later it’s in the net out of a nothing play.

Amazing seeing this guy’s growth over his career from undrafted through the KHL year, and the return and steady ascent. Even when he was named captain, it was arguably understood more within the organization that outside. Now we are talking about a guy with several years of Norris worthy play.

Awesome

It is insane that he has already passed his assist total of 25 last year 29 games into the season. I'd obviously like to see the Flames win the cup but seeing Giordano win the Norris is second on my wish list for the year.

Gio won't win Norris even if he deserves too, it's the way the NHL has always worked. AL Macinnis should have won atleast 2 Norris trophies in Calgary (one year Macinnis had 103 points in Calgary. Only 2 other Dman in history have broken 100 points) and Gary Suter should have won a Norris as well when he led all defense in scoring with 91 points. Nope them guys didn't win not even 1 Norris. Ray Bouquet won all 3 Norris trophies. It was total BS. Still bothers me to this day.

Oh and Macinnis finally did win a Norris but it was when he went to St. Louis, go figure

Really? My second would be Clearance Campbell Bowl and then it would be Gio winning the reading Hart and Lindsay

Damn!!! So it's actually TJ BRODIE thats making GIO better?!?!! Who knew?!

Someone should start the TJ BRODIE for Norris thread, if he keeps his +/- up so high and he keeps helping Giordano build up his stardom Brodie will be unanimous winner

I like the people that think Reilly is running away with it. This is why Gio will be in tough to win as Ontario media is going to check the Reilly box without really considering the competition.

Looking at the stats man Gio's shooting percentage is bad compared to most of his peers which probably explains why he has only 3 goals. Hopefully that stat improves over the course of the season as I feel he's going to have to be in the thick of the goals/points race to get serious consideration by eastern media.

Kind of a dirty play by Gio last night on Koivu. It's not the first time we've seen Gio stick out his leg after getting beat wide.

Yeah. I don't think there's intent to injure as it's reactionary but considering he's got a pattern of doing this it is possible he gets a hearing if the Wild make a lot of noise.

Mark Spector is President of the PWHA?

https://www.thephwa.com/page/show/1102782-about

I can't tell who the current members are, and if voters are distributed evenly across North America.

The PHWA was founded in 1967 and has approximately 180 voting members. [wikipedia]

So IF Gio gets suspended, would it pose any complications to norris voting?

The only thing it hurts is the two fewer games he has to rack up the points.

Last year's voting breakdown, probably the best representation of who votes (and from where).
