I would go back and read some of your very own posts in the Troy Brouwer signing thread before I dialed up the smugness too high if I were you.
No smugness, I'm calling out the trolls, not the critics.
I don't make a habit of re-reading old threads/hindsight but I do know I've addressed that in the past, admitted I was wrong with my discussions with GranteedEV specifically
So we're protecting Hanifin, Andersson, and who else?
Kylington.
Kid’s entering his 23 year old season, and this is often when defensemen take that next step.
Personally, I’m not keen to have spent the last four years developing a smooth-skating D with a missile for a shot who could play another 15 years Just to give him to the Kraken for free.

Everybody's been wrong, I've certainly been wrong. I hope I'm wrong in this very thread. I just think you should think about times you've been wrong before you dismiss people who don't agree with you like that.

Then re-read the posts in this very thread where I stated I have no issue with the people that are critical that have their well thought out reasons for it, just the trolls that are seemingly only here to crap on Treliving, not root for the team
Tanev's WOWY stats with the four Canucks centremen:
2019-20 CF%, 5v5 Score-and-venue-adjusted
55.71 Together with Elias Pettersson (72.25% OZS in 307:01)
53.58 Pettersson without Tanev
42.63 Tanev without Pettersson
45.36 Together with Bo Horvat (38.75% OZS in 369:19)
51.31 Horvat without Tanev
47.18 Tanev without Horvat
46.23 Together with Adam Gaudette (55.93% OZS in 143:09)
45.92 Gaudette without Tanev
46.55 Tanev without Gaudette
32.91 Together with Jay Beagle (12.79% OZS in 160:28)
40.10 Beagle without Tanev
48.86 Tanev without Beagle
Not sure it's useful information, but it does make me curious if playing with Backlund, Bennett, and Ryan, who all support the puck so well in their own zone, will help Tanev out. I've always liked the player so I was surprised to know his analytics haven't been strong in recent seasons.

I hope he can take that next step this season
I'd like to see him get an opportunity to take risks and play his game, especially on the powerplay. With Brodie gone he should a least get a good look
5v5 Tanev paired with any of Gio, Hanifin, Kylington or Valimaki should let those guys use their offensive abilities more often

Looks like he plays well with third and fourth liners but struggles when playing with the top two centers and drags them down. Probably put him in as a 5th or 6th dman and let him play mainly with the third and 4th lines
What I'm reading in this thread is a lot of people are down on this signing because of Brower, Neal and Hamonic.
Not because of Chris Tanev.
Almost every negative response to the signing has mentioned one of those 3 players.
Pretty impossible to like any signing when you're emotionally damaged from those past signing and using them to cloud the judgement of other signings in isolation.
You guys sound like a girl who's been cheated on too many times and now immediately gives the grills to her new boyfriend assuming he'll cheat too.
I understand where that's coming from but try to judge this signing for itself and make an opinion from that alone. Positive or negative, let's not get down on our new player because of past duds.

Tanev is fine. I'm okay with it, actually more than okay now knowing that he has a limited NTC and can be exposed to expansion. So I dont get the guffaw here.
Theres still a lot of work to be done. They have to figure out if its gonna be worth going to arb for Mangi. If its a contentious negotiation I can see Tree going nope not two years in a row of this and trade him for another RFA.
As for ppl thinking they need one more D man to sign, I disagree. Its time to sink or swim for the kids. Adjust accordingly throughout the season. Its just time. Enough half measures of bottom pairing vets.
I still would like to see some work done to the top 6 FW group as well, but that requires a lot of cap management.

What? His numbers with Pettersson are 55.71. And Pettersson's numbers go down without him.

He had a hard time with Horvat but you are right on Petterson I wonder if Petterson actually had 72 percent o-zone starts or if that was just a Tanev thing. The small improvement with Tanev can probably be explained by that inordinate percentage of o-zone starts when it comes to Elias.
