It’s still insensitive and, overall, fairly useless and careless to bring up, but it’s equally useless and careless to share the tweet. Is this really where we want to put our attention? Shaming idiots instead of supporting this team? If you want to, go ahead, but I think it’s disrespectful. And her tweet being disrespectful is no excuse to be the same way.
What she said isn’t only wrong. It’s actually 100% racist.

If this was a woman’s team. And indigenous team, or a Muslim team... the country would have reacted just as empathetically and just as swiftly. This is Canada. Not Alabama.

The SJW far left movement is now a bigger cesspool of feces than the cesspool far right they loathe so much.

Oh how times are rapidly changing.

Can't think of a better way to honor the tragedy by taking down the RBC.
Having grown up in Nipawin, I would have cheered for the Hawks to win regardless, but I totally agree.

They have a chance to give some people a ray of light in an otherwise bleak situation. Not to suggest they have to win to honor Humboldt, but there's no doubt it would be inspirational if they did.

If I was the CEO of Globe Media she would have been fired the moment I became aware of the tweet.

As I said, thanks to the poster that flagged her disgusting comment - I wouldn't have heard about it otherwise.

Ignoring these so called op-ed writers who spread their radical views for a living is the wrong approach. They need to be "outted" for who they really are: entitled, spoiled and grossly insensitive.

It is a sad world indeed when we do gleefully take focus away from the victims of a tragedy to focus on a few words we don’t like that will be forgotten in a week.

Get it all out, then let’s get on with it. The boys still need you, folks.

Perhaps, but this is a common strategy of the fringe idiot typology in the digital media era. And it often works. I would guess that because of the attention, and now threats (specifically sexually violent ones aimed at a woman), she will find another platform as a victim. I would prefer these fringe idiots on either side would disappear, but they won't as long as any of us give them the attention they want.

This is the last I'll say on this because jayswin is right, this thread should be dedicated to something more meaningful than a fringe idiot's attention seeking comments.

She had been forgotten a bit in all this.

Todd McLellan made a point of talking about her specifically.

Just so very very sad.

Heartbroken.

A very very sad reminder that this tragedy isn’t close to over. I hope some of this support helps her family, and that they look back and cherish the fact that they at least got to say goodbye.

Just horrible.

That’s fine if you see it that way, I don’t. That’s why I said I don’t speak for everyone.

I agree, and I'd like to think you are right. Reading her tweets today, she did point out though that there was not nearly as much concern/support for the Quebec City mosque shooting last year, where six were killed and nineteen others injured.

Quote:
On January 30, public vigils and gatherings were held across Canada to show sympathy to the victims of the shooting, their families and their community.[55] The largest assembly, held in Quebec City, was attended by the prime minister and his wife, and leaders of all official federal parties.[56] After speeches, a procession walked in silence to the site of the attack and left flowers before the mosque.[57] The government of Quebec also set up a register of condolences where citizens can send testimonies to the victims of the attack and the families of the dead.[58]

well (and I won't give her more time after this post I don't think) the one area where she might be closest to right is the age thing

I do think regardless of anything else 15 dead (12 or so essentially teenagers) versus 6 middle aged adults does resonate differently with people- as a middle ager myself I accept that
