How so?

I'm from Saskatchewan and my first CFL game was in Regina, so naturally I'm a fan of the Riders.

I live in Calgary and my first NHL game was in Calgary, so naturally I'm a fan of the Flames.

I don't understand why the two have to be mutually exclusive.

Live in Calgary, cheer for the Flames AND Stampeders. It's pretty simple actually.

I bet if you moved to Saskatchewan (wouldn't be caught dead, I'm sure) you wouldn't cheer for the Riders

Do you make the same argument for Leafs/Habs/Canucks/Oilers fans that live in Calgary? I know if I moved to Vancouver or Montreal, there'd be no way I could bring myself to cheer for the Canucks or Habs.

Edit, just saw that you likely do given your avatar. My first comment stands though

Its because we're confused how to accept you if we meet you in a bar

should we shake your hand and buy you a beer because you're a Flames fan?
or should we push you into a lake and sanitize you because you're a Riders fan?

Hypothetically, if I was to move to Saskatchewan/Edmonton/Toronto and had no intention of ever coming back to Alberta, I probably should support the home team.

In real life, people who live in Calgary should cheer for the Flames & Stampeders. However, people who live in Vancouver should also cheer for the Flames & Stampeders. People who live in Montreal should cheer for the Flames & Stampeders. People living anywhere should cheer for the Flames & Stampeders. Simply put, cheer for the Flames & Stampeders.

How about we agree that it depends on what day of the year it is and what jersey I'm wearing?

Winnipeg is really no good. The rough riders tried to hand them the game more than once and the bluebombers blew it each time. The bombers are terrible.

Have WHL season tickets due to living in a small town that doesn't have a NHL team. If you keep it in perspective and see it for what it is (minor or junior league) thats one thing.

It's when CFL fans (read: Riders fans) treat the Grey Cup as somehow being as important as the Stanley Cup, or spend hundreds of bucks on merchandise, or pack flags with them to other countries that it becomes pathetic.

When you realize its a poorly run 8-team minor league of castoffs who all work 2nd jobs during the week and treat it accordingly in terms of importance then that's fine.

You won't see me around Kelowna wearing Rockets jerseys, wearing various Okanagan fruits on my head and following the team to Calgary in order to heckle Hitmen fans, get wasted, attack police officers and get kicked out of the Dome.

Which brings this entire post back full circle and on topic:

Saskatchewan is no good, and neither are their "sports" fans.
When people get great enjoyment out of something who are you to say how much money they should spend on it? I can tell you I have spent a tremendous amount of money on the CFL and I don't give a rats ass what you think about that.

I have also spent a lot of money at Theatre Calgary and Stage west, am I throwing my money away because it is not Broadway?

The entire group of you that just come into CFL threads and have over the top reactions to the CFL should just stay under your rocks. The rest of us are sick of your pompous, self important, and arrogant attitudes.

No, because silly Rider fans struggle with calendars and knowing what sporting event they are attending.

Ergo, Saskatchewan is no good.

A lot of the Saskatchewan fandom is being passed down from another generation, similiar to Leafs and Canadiens fans. I remember going to Stamps games in the 80's and fans of either team were not as boisterous as today. Maybe it was because the Stamps and Riders were terrible or maybe I blame the kids of today.

Its has to be the kids of today. Going to Riders games as a kid in the 80's, it was nowhere near what it is today. There's bad fans in every city, but the ones that are bad, are a lot worse than they used to be.

I love the cute nicknames that they have started referring to Mitchell as.

I think Sunseri is a better QB then he showed today, if he remains the starter then the Riders will definitely show some improvement over the coming weeks, imo.

The Riders scored the same amount of points as the Canucks have cups in their last game. This is surely worth a bump!

Saskatchewan is no good.

Area51 got banned last week at that site - It was certainly overdue, but in a strange way, I'm gonna miss him.
