There is a poster (not sure if he's still active) who uses the bolded word above as his sign-on name who constantly ripped on Monahan.

It's so weird that Gio is still even being asked about this

When you see this angle, I don't understand how you can continue to think there's a knee incident
https://twitter.com/user/status/1222746227374080000

It's entirely a fabrication... to fire up Edmonton fans for the game Saturday? How is a BOA ending in the SO with a stick flip not the better storyline than gaslighting everyone into thinking that Gio has something to answer for?

Even Tre's asked about it... and response is fitting

never has a 2 minute interference penalty been so mis-understood by so many.

Well not since the last time a Flame hit an Oiler

We should put together a 10 minute clip of all his whining over the last few seasons and send it to Burke

The first time he cried was after the draft lottery.

Funny that both incidents (Gio and Chucky) were followed by a dirty play by McDavid without one mention anywhere of either. Propaganda at it's finest.

Let’s just go with it being a legit knee with malicious intent. Giordano should therefore fight McDavid next game to make it right. I wonder if Kassian agrees.

Or better yet someone do a gofundmw billboard of him whining for Calgarian's to see. Would be a good chuckle with a morning coffee on the way to work!

Ok, maybe Rittich crossed a line*, but the puck certainly didn't, and that's all that really matters.

*he definitely didn't

I swear the media is trying to blow this Calgary Edmonton rivalry out of proportion every chance they get. The fans are already emotionally involved.. no need to try to make stupid stories out of nothing.

Flames should give the media a cold shoulder. This is getting ridiculous. Were there TSN/Snet articles about Yak's first goal sliderama?

They never singled out players or particular plays in the past unless it was a foot note in a game review. Now they are just outright looking for controversy and are willing to get them by smearing players. Rittich should tell TSN to stuff it next time they want an interview.

Does anybody remember the game from 2 years ago where McDavid was whining a bunch to the refs because they called off a goal in overtime? Unfortunately, he then went on to score the shoot out winner, but the kicker is, the guy that apparently doesn't say anything to the refs actually got a gross misconduct for abusing the official and mockingly telling them to 'go upstairs'.

What a crappy take from Burke...

Edit- Link: https://scoutingtherefs.com/2018/01/...shootout-goal/

I guess a 10 minute misconduct rather than gross, but the point still stands.

The hell? How does tossing a stick 'cross a line'? This isn't even in the same galaxy as the Bertuzzi-Moore incident, which was 'crossing a line'. What a bunch of snowflakes if they think tossing a stick is 'crossing a line'.

This is bottom of the barrel journalism for sure.

I gave Burke a low five after we beat the Canucks in 6. He was coming out of the press box and I managed to get him to smirk and put out his hand for a five down low. Stands as one of my favorite Flames memories.

That said, dude is flat out wrong and a blow hard. He has lots of bad takes and this is one of them.

The hypersensitivity of Oilers fans and the relentless complaining is to blame. Networks know what plays, and I am sure they have dedicated staffers to monitor the social media channels like CP and HF and Oilfans and Reddit too see whet the hot topics are, and then fire off some clickbait headlines.

The notion that they are some sort of bastion of journalism died when they made Craig Button the "Director of Scouting" and other junk like Dreger and his pathetic antics come trade deadline time. It's now all about clicks and hot takes and stirring the pot to get page views. The legion of snivelling Oilers fans, and who knows if there are more paid complainers like they got nailed with years ago, pushes the media outlets to pay attention to try and capitalize.
