I don't think Rafa gets enough credit for his tennis IQ and tactics, and I don't think Roger gets enough credit for his physical toughness. you don't get to be a GOAT if all you've got is brute strength/endurance, and by the same token you don't get to be a grand slam favorite at 36 if you're not a physical freak of nature.

Entertaining match. Rublev is going to be scary good if he can develop his backhand.

I think the nerves got to Rublev in the same way that they got to Shapo, Dimitrov was not playing very well and Rublev should have at least forced a fifth and deciding set, alas it was not meant to be. Rublev is going to be a top 10 player for sure though.

Well played Nick Kyrgios. Probably a few on that bandwagon now. #Kyrgios #AusOpen

Halep has blown three chances to serve for the match, so far. That's gotta be a record.

Apropos nothing...
I really enjoy listening to Martina's commentary. You think you know tennis pretty well and then she starts dissecting shots, strokes, and mental aspects of the game you never considered.

And then she saves a 0-40 to stay in the match, and Davis looks like she might be cramping. Incredible.

Halep is such an up and down player that her matches are pretty routinely compelling. A final between her and Woz might go 20-18 in the third with 30 championship points blown between them.

Zverev fell apart against Chung getting bageled in the 5th set. (woohoo Go Chung!)
Crazy stat is that Zverev has never beaten a top 50 player in a grand slam match (Chung was 58). Zverev really struggles in 5 set matches.

Zverev, at this point, is the Halep/Radwanska/Wozniacki of men's tennis. Plays pretty well outside the majors, but is simply not mentally strong enough for major tennis. Kyrgios is essentially the opposite player, he only consistently gets up for big time matches (except against Andy for whatever reason). At tis stage this women's draw has been far more entertaining and interesting than the men's draw. Men's draw has kinda been a dud so far, but we'll see how week two goes.
And Chung well, he ain't getting any Christmas cards from the Zverev's. He eliminated both of them, which sounds like the first time that's ever happened, beating brothers in the same tournament.

I like Chung's game and I also wear glasses when I take the court...and that's where the similarities in our games end lol

In other women's action, Angelique Kerber made short work of Maria Sharapova in straight sets (6-1 6-3)
