Default Ducks fire Carlyle, Bob Murray interim coach

https://www.nhl.com/ducks/news/ducks...on/c-304695358

Quote:
The Ducks announced today that Executive Vice President/General Manager Bob Murray will take over as interim head coach for the remainder of the regular season. Head coach Randy Carlyle has been relieved of his duties. Anaheim will begin its search for a new head coach following the 2018-19 season.

"We thank Randy for everything he has done for the organization," said Murray. "Leading the team to a Stanley Cup and three conference final appearances, he has accomplished so much in Anaheim. Difficult decisions need to be made when times are tough, and our play has clearly been unacceptable. We have a tradition of success in Anaheim and we need to get back to that."

Figured as much after last night and heard Murray cut short a Euro trip to fly back...though i thought Eakins would be given the bench.

Was it confirmed that Treliving was interested in bringing him in as coach? Did he interview him?

Does Murray even have amateur coaching experience?

A coaching vacancy in sunny Anaheim has got to be appealing for a number of the available coaches such as Q and AV.

I had heard that Murray didnt wabt to taint anyone with this current group. So honorable thing to do is fall on the sword and give someone else a fresh start next year. Really it's no different than Carlyles last gig. He gets canned but the follower basically has his career ruined by doing worse as an interim coach.

Now it's pretty much if you like the life style of Orange County....be better or I'll trade you to Edmonton.

Team is a mess. Gibson will keep them out of the bottom 5 but I see them bring stuck in hockey purgatory for the next 3 years at least. Not good enough to get in, not bad enough to get a top 5 pick barring a lottery win.

I think Murray taking the bench is for one reason...he will get a full assessment of who/what he has including give-a-crap meter/practice habits.

Then he blows this sucker up over the summer.

That team is a mess, perfect example of when the core becomes old and stale. Will be interesting if they decide to do a full rebuild.

The Ryan Kesler contract doesn't seem to get a lot of flak league-wide.

48 games played, 4 goals, 2 assists, -21. 34 years old and signed at $6.875M for the next three seasons.

Oof.

One of the guys on the Fan stated they heard that ownership wasn't happy with Murray, saying in effect that Carlyle was your guy, we fired Boudreau to bring him in.

Maybe this is his way of accepting responsibility.

Yeah, no reason to bring Eakins into this mess. Let him start fresh next year.
