Default 2024 General Auto Racing Thread

The 2024 Formula E season kicks off this weekend so might as well get this thread going for the year.

I watched 4 or 5 Formula E races last season and I generally enjoy it but this Mexico race is very boring. I don't know if it is the circuit or something else that is holding back the amount of overtaking. Even with attack mode the drivers aren't able to overtake yet the field is so bunched up. I watch a lot of Indycar so I have an expectation for a lot of overtaking and aggressiveness and this race is leaving me unsatisfied.

Yeah, that was a boring race. Happy Porsche won. Seems like they all have the Gen3 car figured and there just isn't much room to pass there.

Chip Ganassi allegedly ran over and killed Devlin Defrancesco’s dog in the paddock at the Rolex 24 without stopping. That’s all sorts of ####ed up.

If NASCAR never races at the LA Coliseum ever again I’ll be so happy

I like it. They need more short tracks, not less.

NASCAR knew the ovals and in particular the short track package was going to be challenging when they went away from a j bar.

The smart people will keep working on it and the racing will get better.

Pretty wild story out of the Australian Supercars series. 2023 series champ Kostecki has all but left his team. Now the main sponsor of the team has left.

Weather looks pretty wet for the Daytona 500 weekend. The ARCA race for tomorrow has been moved to tonight.

Monday doubleheader is likely

Monday double header confirmed. We have tickets for the 500 but not United Rentals 300 and delayed our flights a day to stay. Apparently the plan is 300 ticket holders don't have to leave the venue between and can use any open seats for the 500, so our seats will 100% be occupied when we arrive...

That must be a brutally grueling day for the drivers that are doing back to back races.

Adding a few photos from the Daytona 500 just for fun. The delay of a full day was very inconvenient (we had to move our flights) but the weather was WAY better on Monday so it worked out pretty well.

I also had a surprise realization on the bus from the parking lot to the track - I was the thinnest man on that bus, which is not something that generally happens to me... Nascar fans were fun, I was surprised but you're allowed to bring in your own beer. Didn't seem like things ever got out of hand even with people bringing in a full cooler with 20+ beer per person.

Second photo is the beginning of the crash on Lap 6.
